The Young Men and Young Women general presidencies announced that the 2016 Mutual Theme is “press forward with a steadfastness in Christ,” according to LDS Living.

The theme was announced in a letter, and stated that it comes from 2 Nephi 31:20, which reads:

“Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life.”

Each year’s theme is meant to direct Mutual opening exercises, guide topics for youth Sacrament Meeting talks, and be a focus for all youth activities, camps, devotionals, etc.

The 2015 mutual theme, “O ye that embark in the service of God,” was adapted from Doctrine and Covenants 4:2.
