Janice Kapp Perry, a Latter-day Saint composer, will release 28 new songs at the beginning of October.
Bonnie Hart Murray wrote the lyrics for the new songs, which focus on The Book of Mormon. The songs will be included in Perry’s new hymnbook, titled “A Songbook for LDS Families.”
Utah Valley 360 reports that after receiving lyrics from Murray, Perry was astonished at how great the lyrics for these songs were. Perry enjoys all of the new songs, but admits that her favorite song is “That Moment of Moments.” She explains,
I tried to make it as sacred sounding as a hymn could be and have the passion of what they might have felt at that time.
In addition to the 28 new songs, Perry’s songbook will also include 15 of her most popular songs. “A Child’s Prayer” is among those old favorites included in the new songbook. Perry enlisted the help of the One Voice Children’s Choir in Utah to create a music video for the beloved classic, posted above. The choir sings a cover of “A Child’s Prayer,” and the video features clips from the recent film, “The Cokeville Miracle.”
