On Monday’s episode of “So You Think You Can Dance,” dancer Brandon Armstrong not only gave a stunning dance performance, but he also talked about his mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Armstrong was too young when he performed with Lindsay Arnold for her 2012 audition. After seeing his performance, the judges invited him back to audition in 2013, an offer he declined.

The young performer shares in a pre-audition interview, shared by LDS Smile, that he turned down the invite to serve a mission to Arkansas, sharing that missionaries basically “just talk about Jesus from about 6 o’clock in the morning until 10 o’clock at night.” He explained that while on his mission he was unable to watch TV, listen to non-Church music, or even practice dance. He also adds,

I don’t regret it at all.

After waiting three years for his opportunity, Armstrong took the stage with Arnold’s younger sister as his dance partner.
