LDS.net’s Mormon Minute recaps LDS news that happened during the week in the Mormon world. This week, we talk about: health updates on Elder Perry and Elder Scott, the Los Angeles Temple’s landscaping, and a music video for missionaries who return home early.

0:06 – Elder Perry and Scott Health Updates

The Church issued updates on Elders L. Tom Perry and Richard G. Scott, who were both hospitalized several weeks ago. Elder Perry was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and is undergoing radiation treatment but has also returned to his meetings with the Quorum of the Twelve. Elder Scott is recovering and stable at home after gastrointestinal bleeding and has not yet returned to his duties.

A recent list from Newsmax names the restoration as one of the religious movements that changed America citing The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as the most prominent group during the movement. Other denominations on the list included Evangelicalism, Pentecostalism and Christian Fundamentalism.

0:47 – L.A. Temple Grounds Turn Brown

The L.A. Times reports that gardeners over the grounds stopped watering the lawns about a month ago to conserve water during California’s drought. The lush grounds have turned brown and so far no church spokesperson has made a statement on the matter.

1:04 – Video: Missionaries Who Return Home Early

And a group of young adults who returned home early from their service as LDS missionaries are sharing a message of hope with others who are struggling with the transition.
