The public is invited to attend a family history fair in Yakima, Washington, organized by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the area. With the invite, “get to know your roots,” the event is focused on strengthening family relationships through learning about relatives from past generations.

Those who attend the Roots that Bind Family History Fair will have the opportunity to listen to speakers, in Spanish or English, teach about how to find ancestors, how to build a family tree and how to find stories.

Gary Martin, one of the organizers for the event, told Yakima Herald that he feels it is important for children to know of the hardships and happiness their ancestors lived:

We feel that knowing your roots and stories about your family is important in bringing families together.
