Mitt Romney’s Faith Influencing His Possible Third Attempt for President

After two not-so-successful attempts to become President of the United States, Mitt Romney is rumored to be strongly considering a third attempt — but this time, it is solely because of his faith.

“Religious beliefs drive his strong sense of nationalism and his desire to serve,” Kirk Jowers, chair of Romney’s political action committee, told The Christian Post. “His consideration of a third presidency campaign stems mostly from an almost devout belief that he needs to do something for this country.”

If Romney does run for President, Jowers says that there will be more talk of faith than in his 2008 and 2012 campaigns.

“In 2008, Romney risked being a caricature of the Mormon candidate,” Jowers said. “Now everyone seems to know everything about him, and that will be very liberating for him to talk about his faith.”

Romney will announce his decision about this third run for President within the next two weeks.

Greg Whiteley, a Mormon filmmaker who produced the film “Mitt” at last year’s Sundance Film Festival said that Romney’s perseverance and persistence have led him to live his faith with such conviction.

“You’re taught from a very young age that you’re blessed to live in this country, and our church was founded in this country,” Whiteley said. “There is a stream of patriotism in the Mormon faith that you’re getting here.”
