New Church Leaders Announced at Latter-day Saint General Conference

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced 57 new Church leaders during the 185th Annual General Conference on Saturday.

The new callings include five new general authorities, a new Young Men general presidency, a new counselor in the Primary general presidency and 53 Area Seventies, according to Mormon Newsroom. Those called are as follows:

First Quorum of the Seventy

  • Elder Kim B. Clark, 66, served as the president of BYU-Idaho from 2004-2015
  • Elder Allen D. Haynie, 56, previously served as a member of the Fifth Quorum of the Seventy in the North America West Area
  • Elder Von G. Keetch, 55, previously served Fifth Quorum of the Seventy in the Salt Lake City Area
  • Elder Hugo Montoya, 55, previously served as a member of the Fourth Quorum of the Seventy in the Mexico Area
  • Elder Vern P. Stanfill, 57, previously served as a member of the Sixth Quorum of the Seventy in the North America Central Area

Young Men General Presidency

  • Stephen W. Owen, 57, Young Men General President; previous Church service includes president of the California Arcadia Mission, stake president, bishop, Scoutmaster, ward Young Men president and elders quorum president
  • Douglas D. Holmes, 53, first counselor in the Young Men general presidency; previous Church service includes counselor in a stake presidency, president of the Michigan Detroit Mission, bishop, ward Young Men president,  Gospel Doctrine teacher, ward mission leader
  • M. Joseph Brough, 51,second counselor in the Young Men general presidency; previous Church service includes president of the Guatemala Guatemala City Central Mission, ward Young Men president, bishop, bishop’s counselor and high councilor

Primary General Presidency

  • Sister Mary R. Durham, 61, second counselor in the Primary general presidency; previous Church callings include serving with her husband as he was president of the Japan Tokyo North Mission, Primary presidency counselor, Young Women president, stake Relief Society president, Gospel Doctrine teacher and as a member of the Primary general board
