Vandals damaged exterior structures, construction machinery and spray painted equipment at the Fort Collins Colorado Temple construction site Sunday, August 23, 2015.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released a statement Tuesday, August 25 addressing the vandalism,

We are saddened by the vandalism at the construction site of the Fort Collins Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and at other places of worship in the area. Both the construction company and the church are working closely with local authorities as they pursue their investigation. Questions regarding the nature of the vandalism should be directed to local law enforcement.

Colorado police were alerted of the vandalism around 3 AM on Sunday morning. The police found evidence from the scene which suggests that the vandalism is linked to previously reported burglary and vandalism cases.
