Here we go again.

If you’re not familiar with the Anti-Mormon Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint material available on the internet, just trust me when I say it’s nearly infinite in reach and topic. As far as YouTube goes, one of the most-watched types of videos involves meeting up with young missionaries of the Church, typically in an effort to expose or stump them with extremely difficult questions or hostile encounters.

I recently stumbled across what I presumed to be yet another of these frustrating videos. And—against my better judgment—I clicked on it. Go ahead and take a look if you would like, you may be surprised at what you find (it’s pretty long so feel free to skip through some parts).

What I saw in this video was so refreshing it put a smile on my face. The interviewer, Chris LaForest, really seems to be genuinely interested in learning about the Latter-day Saint faith and the work that these young missionaries do. He asks sincere questions without sounding accusatory or skeptical. Given the circumstances, I feel the missionaries represented the Church admirably, and if you take a look at the comments below it’s clear that many were impressed by the constructive dialogue that transpired throughout the video.

This is just a small sampling of the positive feedback this video has generated. The comments really are respectful overall, something which is hard to find on any video featuring Latter-day Saint missionaries. There is much to be learned by Chris’ example, for those of all faiths. Though we may have different beliefs from others, we can and should learn from one another. We are reminded in the Doctrine and Covenants that God deeply loves all of his children.

 Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God;

 For, behold, the Lord your Redeemer suffered death in the flesh; wherefore he suffered the pain of all men, that all men might repent and come unto him.

Regardless of an individual’s race, religion, gender, socioeconomic status, political affiliation, etc., he or she deserves to be treated with respect and love, just as this insightful video shows us. We are all children of God. Thank you, Chris. The world needs more people like you.
