LDS.net’s Mormon Minute recaps LDS news that happened during the week in the Mormon world. This week, we talk about: the Church’s press conference on religious freedom, LDS.org’s new site design, and an LDS mother-to-be’s viral video announcing her pregnancy.

0:09 – #Fairness4All Press Conference

The Church held a press conference Wednesday on the growing need for the protection of religious freedom and nondiscrimination against all minority groups. Four leaders addressed the world on the Church’s stance and what political leaders can do to protect those freedoms.

“The debate we speak of today is how we affirm rights for some, without taking away from the rights of others.”

“When religious people are publicly intimidated, retaliated against, forced from employment, or made to suffer personal loss because they’ve raised their voice in the public square, donated to a cause, or participated in an election, our democracy is the loser.”

0:48 – LDS.org Update

LDS.org announced that it’s getting a facelift starting in February that will make the site easier to use. Several new features will also be added that will make access to local information easier to find. The updates will affect all language and country versions of the site.

1:03 – Pregnant LDS Mother

And one LDS woman is getting a lot of attention online from a special dance she performed for her husband to announce her pregnancy. The dance was choreographed on the spot and told the story of them falling in love, being sealed in the temple, and then miscarrying their first baby. The video, which was shot on her friend’s phone to share with close friends and family, has received more views than expected and multiple outlets have covered the story including the Huffington Post and Hello Giggles.
