The Mormon Minute recaps news that’s happening in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This week, we cover: the Church’s additional donation to the European refugee crisis, missionaries serving in Taiwan, and a video depicting the Sabbath Day’s importance.

0:05 – Refugee Aid and Uchtdorf’s Childhood

The Church is giving an additional 5 million dollars to aid refugees in Europe. In an interview with KUTV2 news, President Uchtdorf shared details about his childhood experience as a refugee during WWII. Uchtdorf said that much of the safety and care his family experienced during those hard times was due to the kindness of others, including humanitarian relief from the LDS church.

0:32 – Missionaries in Taiwan

On Saturday a 6.4 earthquake hit Taiwan killing at least 34 people and trapping hundreds under the debris. The Church reported all missionaries safe serving in the area. There are two missions in the country and over 57,000 members.

0:47 – Keeping the Sabbath Holy

And with the recent focus on keeping the Sabbath Day holy, Mormon Channel released a compelling video that shows how the Sabbath Day is a gift from God.
