Mormons Top Groups that Consistently Tilt Republican

Pew Research conducted a recent study which revealed that members of The Church of Latter-day Saints lean more toward the Republican Party when compared to any other demographic group.

The research team used data collected from a 2014 survey that included 25,000 interviews, providing the team with “a detailed portrait of where the parties stand among various groups in the population.” Pew Research took a look into race and ethnicity, gender, education, generations and religion to draw their conclusions.

Latter-day Saints rank as the top group that favors the Republican Party, as depicted in the graph below.

The graph above shows that 70 percent of Latter-day Saints lean Republican, whereas only 22 percent lean Democratic. A 48 point difference is the largest of any group that largely identifies with the Republican Party, naming Mormons the most reliable Republicans.

Since 1992, Latter-day Saints have consistently leaned Republican, as shown below.
