A shooting on Saturday, May 23 at a Latter-day Saint stake center in Arizona has left the shooter dead and two victims injured.

KSL reports that Eric Robinson, 40, allegedly opened fire at an LDS Stake Center in Eagar. A lady inside the church foyer notified police and Robinson fled the scene. Upon the arrival of officers, Robinson returned to the chapel and began firing bullets at the police and those leaving the building.

Robinson is accused of shooting a pregnant lady in the shoulder. It is also reported that officer Jason Casillas suffered a grazing head wound during the shooting.

The Eagar native fled the scene again, leading officers on a chase to his home. Robinson ran inside and began shooting at police. KSL reports that Robinson then exited his home, advancing toward the officers, continuing to fire shots at them. The officers opened fire on Robinson, hit him, and knocked him to the ground.

Police took Robinson into custody and transported him to Mountain Regional Medical Center in Springerville, Arizona, where he later died from his injuries. The pregnant woman wounded during the shooting was taken to a nearby hospital, but her condition is unknown.

Apache County Sheriff’s Office is continuing their investigation. A motive has not yet been determined.
