His Grace: Unplanned Pregnancy, Adoption and the “Best Gift Ever”

After leaving home for the first time to attend college, Katie began questioning everything she had learned from growing up with a family that was strong in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Mormon Channel released a new video in which Katie explains that she began partying and drinking, and eventually moved in with a guy. Following an unplanned pregnancy, Katie says she felt alone, unworthy to pray, and scared to tell her family. But, for the first time in a long time, Katie said a prayer and her life was forever changed.

I burst into tears because that was the first time I actually felt Him, felt my Savior, felt my Heavenly Father. My family just welcomed me with open arms and it was overwhelming.

Having the love and support of her family, Katie began to feel excited about her role as a new mother. However, when she realized she wouldn’t be able to give her baby girl the type of family and life that she was raised with, Katie decided it would be best to give her child up for adoption.

When Katie gave birth to her beautiful baby girl, Katie had to make the decision to place her infant child for adoption all over again. Although Katie was faced with a difficult trial, she found strength through Christ, and Katie signed away her parental rights on Christmas Eve.

“Through [His grace] I have been able to forgive myself of my mistakes and be happy now and really have hope for my future and for the future of my little girl,” Katie says. “It’s incredible.”
