50 Cent may be one of the best at throwing down beats, but not when it comes to throwing baseballs. Tuesday night saw one of baseball’s worst first pitches by the rapper.

Not so straight and narrow…

There have been a lot of embarrassing first pitches over the years (here are some more from others including Mariah Carey and Justin Bieber), but because it’s Thursday lets throw back to six apostles from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who have more game than any of them. A literal “#throwbackThursday” if you will.

The Pitchers

1) Elder L. Tom Perry

First on our list is Elder L. Tom Perry who still had it back in 2004 when he was 82. Before he taught that “perfect love casteth out all fear” he showed that a perfect arm casteth out a pretty mean pitch.  He threw the first pitch for the Red Sox, a team he’s rooted for since he lived in Boston prior to his call as an Apostle.

2) Elder Robert D. Hales

Once called “Hard-Luck Hales” after a bad baseball slump in high school, Elder Robert D. Hales bounced back and pitched a shutout. Years later in 2007 he proved he still hasn’t thrown out his arm and is as good as the rest of them.

3) Elder M. Russell Ballard

Watch Elder Ballard being a good member missionary as he throws out a first pitch in 2009 for the annual Mormon Night at Dodger Stadium. Even though he wasn’t the first apostle to throw out a ceremonial first pitch, he was the first to throw out an apostolic tweet.

4) Elder Quentin L. Cook

Hope ya know Elder Quentin L. Cook didn’t have a hard time throwing out his first pitch in 2011.

Nice form Elder Cook!

5) President Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Czechoslovakian born President Dieter F. Uchtdorf looked natural playing the All-American sport in 2012. Of course, President Uchtdorf’s pitch wasn’t even off by a matter of a few degrees.

6) Elder Jeffrey R. Holland

Elder Jeffrey R. Holland made his own appearance in 2013 at Dodger Stadium, and he didn’t check his religion at the door.
