Mormon Lindsey Stirling Nominated for 2014 Billboard Music Award
Just weeks after winning an Echo Award (the German equivalent of a GRAMMY Award), Lindsey Stirling’s first album has been nominated for best electronic/dance album for the 2014 Billboard Music Awards.
Lindsey Stirling, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, blends classical violin with modern dance and dubstep. She released her self-titled debut album in September 2012 after an impressive YouTube and iTunes presence.
As she accepted the Echo Award for best crossover act, she said,
“I was the violinist that wanted to dance. I know that sounds strange but now I’m living my dream.”
She shared her excitement about winning the award on her Instagram account, which shows her characteristic vivaciousness and zest for life.
“Guys!!! I won an echo award! It’s my first ever award from a traditional award ceremony. In the top right you can see my face when they said my name. Haha #suchanerd. I got to give the whole thank you speech and everything. I totally forgot what I was going to say cus I was so excited but I was a magical moment I’ll always remember. Thank you to all my German peeps for helping me get this!”
Here is Lindsey’s Crystallize YouTube video from her debut album.
