‘Mormons vs. Zombies’ Game Hopes to Reach Smartphones Soon
Jana Maughan was down in her parents’ food storage room taking in the incredible amount of food around her when she realized:
If anyone is going to survive a zombie apocalypse, it will be the Mormons!
Maughan and her husband, Mike, decided to turn this thought into a video game and enlisted the help of their friends Daniel and Christy. The game, “Mormons vs. Zombies,” takes players through a virtual world as an archetypal Mormon character trying to get to Welfare Square. At Welfare Square, the character can mingle with other Mormons while enjoying an endless food supply and start replenishing the earth. But, it’s not as easy as it sounds.
Along the way, users will guide their character through battles against zombies, armed with innovative weapons such as green gelatin and merit badge shurikens. At the end of each of the four levels, players will battle a zombie boss for a 72-hour kit and a vehicle that will take them through to the next level.
The game is still in the developing stages and is currently a project on Kickstarter. The Maughan’s goal is to raise $87,500 by Tuesday, October 28, before they begin the final configurations of the video game. The game will be made available to iOS and Android devices.
