  1. That is a question to ask the Lord, yourself... And maybe if you are still struggling your Bishop. Based on statements made by the church Tithing is paid on income. Ask yourself is this income? Some people might make that argument. If that is you and you feel that is what God wants then pay. Other people might say that this is an attempt for the person that wronged you to make it right. A restoration of that which they took from you. In that case attempts make you whole again would not be income but rather an effort to return you to your original state. If that is your thoughts and you feel it is what God wants then do not. Of course these are only two thought you could have on the subject. You can and likely do have others. The choice is yours... Make it prayerfully.

  7. Just wondering, lost - were you aware of the links I posted? Did you, like, search for them and couldn't find them? Do you somehow believe they are not what they claim to be, or are somehow insufficient? I'm confused at why you believe change is very much needed...

  8. I believe this are points often overlooked. The first miracle Christ performed (according to scripture) is water into wine. This gives evidence that God is able to command at the element and change one element into another. The rod into a snake and then back into a rod is perfect example of how easily God can take matter create what he desires. Waiting millions of years to create a body through organic evolution would be a waste of time, when all God needed are the elements that make up a human body.

  9. Yet they make the claim "“All institutional churches in America have already implemented clear policies to curb abuse and protect children except the Mormon Church. That is not acceptable and we must have real change now,” Young said." Clearly a lie and we know who the father of lies is It is one thing to say they disagree with how it is handled... or that they want more to be done... Those can make for good discussion points. But to say that NOTHING is being done that the problem is being IGNORED in-spite of the very clear evidence to the contrary, means they are not interested in true and honest discussions help children. It means they are after publicly and being seen of men... Well they have their reward... and the church will continue to do its work and refine it's policies and they see the need.

  10. My point exactly. It is very simple. God is a man with a physical body of flesh and bones. If mankind already existed at the time God created this earth (it did), what use is there for organic evolution? It is a waste of time and effort to try to build something that already exists and is able to duplicate itself. God has so much work to do already, He has created worlds without number, why waste time by building from scratch something for which there is already a perfected process to build? He wouldn't do that. Even if organic evolution were a true process that existed at some point in eternity, it would have been a complete waste of time to use in in relation to the creation of live on our world. Additionally, when God turned Moses' staff into a serpent, if we accept it as a true event, that alone proves that He is able to take raw elements and reorganize them into a life form immediately. If He is capable of doing that, then once again, evolution, as a means of developing life forms and creating the earth becomes useless and unnecessary. If all things truly exist spiritually before existing physically, then any living thing that is the result of human genetic manipulation would already be a known to God. Genetic alteration is an effect of mortality; without death, organic evolution could not exist. Anyway, I have to finish preparing a talk for sacrament meeting today, so I'll leave it at that for now.

    Paying for a mission

On her mission, my eldest daugher just barely managed to save for herself the minimum $400 per month that she needed and my wife and I took care of all the other incidental expenses, which came to about $2,500 over the life of her mission. My oldest son managed to save all that he needed and enough to cover all of his incidentals, and still have some money left when he came home. My second son, currently serving, was strongly encouraged by the Bishop to go much sooner than he had planned, so consequently didn't have all that he needed to pay for his mission. The shortfall is being met by myself, my wife, my parents and my three children. You need to look at the $400 a month as an absolute bare minimum. There are always additional expenses. For example, when my second son arrived on his mission we found out that he needed $600 to buy a bike, which all missionaries have to do. Then in August we need to come up with another $200 or more to buy a phone which all missionaries are now receiving. Then there's new clothes, sending them packages, and all sorts of other things.

  12. Gravity is also a theory - so are numbers. Something being a theory does not mean that it has not been proven. Evolution has been proven - but there are theories that attempt to apply evolution as a possible explanation of biological events that have no other viable explanation. By the vary nature of a virus attacking a living organism we know that genetics can be changed - which is the definition of organic evolution and is currently a primary tool and method of genetic engineering. To say there is no organic evolution is a kin to claiming mankind really has not discovered fire yet - let alone cooked meals with it. The Traveler

  14. Earlier this year, when I was attending the stake Financial Self Reliance course ( great course which I thoroughly recommend) there was a sister who would arrive about 5 or 10 minutes before the start of class and start breast feeding her baby. Sometimes her husband was with her, sometimes he wasn't. The class was facilitated by our bishop and when time permitted, attended by our Stake President and they never commented on it. Usually the breastfeeding finished just before or just after the start of class, meaning that baby was quiet and contended and often asleep for the rest of the class. I don't know if breast feeding happens during sacrament meeting as we normally sit close to the front so I don't know what's happening behind me. Fortunately, our mother's room is located just across the foyer from the chapel, it is well heated, wired for sound and the chairs are very comfortable. Its not quite the same thing, but I live in an area that a year or two ago was proud to be able to claim, whether accurately or not I don't know, to be the first legislative body to have an elected representative breast feed her baby during legislative proceedings. I'm confident that when the current New Zealand Prime Minister, who used to be an active church member, returns to work after her current maternity leave, she will also breast feed her baby while participating in parliamentary proceedings.

  15. I have heard and read similar arguments from Penn Jillette. He has stated that he has already killed and raped and . . . all the people he wants to (which is zero), and that with or without a God, that does not change. Well, I'm so happy for him, but I can tell you that if I ever had the absolute firm conviction that there is no God, and that death is the end, I can't imagine anything other than the risk of being caught would hold me back from doing anything I felt like doing. Additionally, I can't imagine other people not being driven in a similar way. In the world today, most people still believe in a God and in some sort of afterlife. Even atheists are aware of and have the concept of God in their minds although they reject it. However, in a world where not 1 person believed in such a thing as God, or life after death, I imagine there would be much more anarchy and evil than you might expect.

    I got marry

Love is not just a feeling. It is a choice and it is an action. Choose to love her every day. Choose action to show this love. Love is like a plant. The more you take care of it, the more it will grow and develop. If you don't take care of it for a while, the plant will survive and you might lie to yourself that the plant is ok, but it isn't. Make it a point to truly show love to your wife every day. And when things get tough between you and her, step up the love. And never act out of anger. Acting out of anger always leads to bad things. If you are angry, take control of your emotion. Take a step back and reanalyze what you are angry about. And remember to love her everyday.

  22. I always took the phrase to mean "It doesn't matter how good your intentions - have as many of them as you want. But without acting on them, or at least backing them up with character, you can easily end up in hell." Good intentions, including Godly desire, all by themselves, get swept away by any gentle breeze. Peer pressure, hunger, desire for love - anything can show up with a short-term shiny prize and win over a good intention.

  23. Today's combined RS/PH lesson was entitled "Why to not be afraid of change". I nearly fell out of my seat laughing out of the irony. Oh yeah, I'm going to participate here. Abridged story: I do now understand some of the dynamics going on in my ward better now, and certain individuals shortcomings/fears, much of it being based around a feeling of loss of control. Got a better understanding of them as individuals and love of them despite their flaws. I do think some folks fears were somewhat reduced, as people shared good stories about the growth that's come from changes. We talked about many of the changes, including ditching Scouts, but the big focus was the introducing "Come Follow Me" for grown ups and how this is a good thing. A lot of my comments (and other folks as well) were how this is an empowering move-- to take the reins of your own role in the Gospel. Another person had great comments about how Eternal Life/ the Gospel is constant progression and change.

@Perhaps he lacks a physical attribute that all males have in his society eg ability to see in the dark? They can feel another’s fear when they shake hands? He does not have this ability due to mixed heritage? His hobby is calligraphy and thus his obsession with quill pens and ink? But not accepted in this macho culture?
