  1. I was single when I left the Singles Ward, because I found church to be too unnerving without wiggling children involved. So I went to the local family ward. I was 100% welcomed, and everyone laughed at my reasoning. I made friends with the young families, the older empty nesters, and the always single folks there. Despite the fact that I was technically a early 20's single person, I felt much more connect there than I ever did in the Single Wards. And then I moved cities, and had an equally welcomed experience in that family ward. And in the third city I lived in as well.

  2. Fallon Fox should be charged with battery. The legions of people who claim that Fox is legit and should be allowed to keep on beating the crap out of women should be summarily and permanently dismissed from all polite society.

  5. This make no sense to me in light of scripture. Death defines the realm of sin and Jesus died (according to scripture). Are you saying Jesus did not die? I also understand that in the resurrection we (mankind) will be like him (Jesus Christ). As a scientist I understand that atoms (as we think we understand them) are complex elementary particles made up of quarks, leptons, fermions and bosons. But also in science it has been determined that the universe (including this sin realm) is made up of 95% stuff we can not see or define beyond calling such Dark Matter, Dark Energy and Dark Radiation. Do you believe in the resurrection - Of Jesus? Of man? The Traveler

  6. It is interesting how many conservatives want so badly for this to be nothing and it appears some may even by claiming that it IS nothing. The truth seems to be that it is an evolving situation that no one knows what will occur. It has me alarmed particularly because I appear to be in the group most at risk. Perhaps keeping updated at the government organizations that monitor this would be better at seeing what is or may be happening. Interviews with the officials that are part of those in this government group or associated with it is probably also useful. With how severe it appears it could become, I am HOPING that it dies out in warm weather (such as when spring or when April comes around) before it has a chance to affect me if it does turn out to be hazardous. It will be great if this IS nothing (this season already had a bunch of Influenza in our area). This is from the ECDC that I took today (29/2/2020). and I am older than some and it appears within the threat range where the disease has around a 14% mortality. Luckily, currently as far as I know I do not already have a chronic illness so perhaps I'm safer than others my age. Current risk assessment novel Coronavirus Situation This is also a rather useful link Geographical Distribution 2019 NCOV cases I am uncertain how updated they keep the site on weekends though.

  7. Will the moon collide with the earth next week? Either it will or it will not, but it doesn't hurt to take precautions. Like spend $100 quadrillion to build shelters for everyone. in fact, it can hurt to "take precautions". It can hurt very badly. It can damage economies, temporarily or sometimes perrmanently. It can affect relationships between nations. It can fuel hatreds. It can give US media another outrageous excuse to bag on the sitting President. How much of a threat is this virus? By all reasonable, level-headed accounts, probably not all that much. Yet the outsized reactions are causing harm even as we speak. $10 for a dust mask! Dow down 3600 points in one week! Our nation gearing up to implement massive, widespread measures to protect against what for most people amounts to a cold! There is money to be extorted, power to be garnered, and in general, lots of hay to be made during the shining sun of this latest media-manufactured "crisis". In the words of the administration of Barack Obama, "Never let a serious crisis go to waste."

  8. I'm confused why some of you appear to be so adamant about insisting the virus isn't a threat. It either is, or it isn't, and it doesn't ever hurt to take precautions. A lot of times, these pandemics are judged based on their potential, not entirely on current statistics.

    Partial Believers place

You sound like me, several years ago. I have a HUGE thread in this group about it. Study and prayer helped me through, but to answer your question: there is really a place for anyone here, providing they don't actively speak out against the Church and Prophet. If they have a sincere desire to learn, regardless whether or not they agree, there is a seat for you. Eventually, most of it made sense to me. Some of it still doesn't, but I believe it will in time. Whether I "agree" with everything or not, my life has been blessed through making and keeping covenants, even the ones I don't truly understand.

  10. I have a couple of thoughts here— (the “you” here is generic) Are you welcome? Of course, everyone is welcome. Welcome to come to your local congregation (aka ward) for everything. Also welcome to chat about the light and goodness you do have. A seedling of a testimony is indeed beautiful. Though seeding are indeed meant to grow, not stay seedlings forever. Sometimes that growth can be scary or involve a leap of faith – in fact, most times it does. Growth is seldom comfortable. We need to give a seedling light and water, encouraging it’s growth. We don’t want to give it a weedwhacker because we’re scared of it, or be any of those other reasons seeds die in the Parable of the Sower. All in all, it reminds me of a saying by Elder Holland: “Come as you are, but don’t expect to stay that way”. It’s from one of my all time favorite General Conference talks: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2017/04/songs-sung-and-unsung?lang=eng

  11. Welcome, Floridaman. I guess my question is, what does “fit in” mean to you? Obviously anyone can start attending an LDS Church and become part of the community of believers there; and you will be very much welcomed and could quickly become an integral part of the social fabric of your congregation. That being said: the teaching you will hear during Sunday sermons and classes will back the LDS orthodoxy. Participation in LDS worship rituals will to varying degrees (depending on the ritual) be restricted to those who unreservedly endorse and live a sort of lowest-common-denominator subset of the Church’s teachings. So that may create some degree of tension. Personally, I’d encourage you to come on in.

  12. We don't use the word "physical" in the way you use it here. Physical means "of the body", as opposed to "of the spirit". Just because a body is invisible doesn't mean it is not there, so the resurrected body of Christ is still physical. All the Personages of God have physical bodies controlled by their spirits. What material that body is made out of is something that has not been revealed beyond the Father's revelation as he showed himself to the prophet Joseph Smith standing with His Son. That revealed to us that the Father and the Son have physical bodies of flesh and bone when they showed Themselves to Joseph Smith. Mortal bodies are different than pre-mortal bodies or resurrected bodies. Mortal bodies are made from the earth and to earth it will return when it dies. The spirit has the capacity to act upon the mortal body or be acted upon by it. After death, our spirits shed the mortal body but our spirits will eventually re-join a physical body during resurrection, which, by God's image would be made of flesh and bone.

My Momma is RIGHT once again. As most Filipino Mommas do, my Momma's answer to everything is VICKS VAPORUB. You have cough or colds... Vicks. On your chest. On your feet. Cover your feet with socks. You have headache... Vicks. On your forehead. You can't sleep...Vicks. On your eyelids ("Ma! I can't open my eyes!" "That's right, you go to sleep now baby."). Corona Virus... Vicks. On your fingers. Thickly slathered. You won't be touching your face with that now, would you. Ahhh... my Momma is right again!
