  1. Read the comments on the original article and that shows just how true this is

  2. Eh, if I’m wrong, fine. I don’t care. I look at the big picture here. Fewer people are committing suicide. That’s a wonderful thing. A very wonderful thing. Thank God. I pray it’s true.

  3. Footnotes are not part of the canonized text either, but at very helpful! I won't tell either but footnote a in verse 2 leads to the answer Joseph Smith gave received about this.

  4. “Just one study”? You talk as if this is a lone voice in the wilderness, bucking some presupposed mountain of evidence that suggests that there is a causal link between LDS observance and LGBTQ suicide. But in fact there is no such evidence, as Michael Staley himself has said so (repeatedly). I’d love to agree that “no one is sad about this”; but the fact is that humans have been willing to let other humans die in furtherance of their pet political objectives for literally millennia. For folks who claim to get the sadz when gay Mormon kids off themselves, LGBTQ advocates sure have fine-tuned the art of making those deaths politically useful. The Mama Dragons have even been caught with their hands in the statistical cookie jar—claiming more LGBTQ LDS youth suicides for a given region in a given time frame, than the total youth suicides reported to the legal authorities in those jurisdictions for that same time frame. To use a slightly dated analogy that still light to be recognizable to most of our LGBTQ-“ally” friends: If you’re determined to implement regime change in Iraq, Saddam not having WMDs is a very bad thing; and the number of human lives actually at stake matters not at all.

  5. Oh agree. But, like we all know, we love studies when we agree with the outcome. We dismiss them when we disagree with the outcome, even if the outcome is probably correct. Yes, I include myself. Again though, this is a very good thing and I hope and pray it’s accurate.

  6. I agree that I would love to see more studies. Unless I misread, the article seemed to mention that a non-church entity at least reviewed the data and came to the same assessment. Obviously not another independent study, but very likely the next best thing.

  7. I'm glad for the change. I've always thought "disfellowshipment" was an awkward term, because in practice, it meant "brother so-and-so is going through a hard time, so we're all going to go out of our way to love bomb him 24/7 so he knows he's loved".

  8. I have been hearing reports because of the unconstitutional president vaccine mandates that 30% of pilots may lose their jobs. The effects may be with less pilots there will be less flights and shipment of goods. The same thing may happen with truckers and trucks. More shortages of goods may be in the future. I hope they are wrong but I do not think so. Read more at: https://www.westernjournal.com/power-airline-pilot-warns-bidens-mandate-will-create-massive-disruptions-shipping-travel

  9. The biggest point I can make on this topic is that we know SO LITTLE about what pre-earth life. We have little peaks at it here and there, but it is not something we can really make solid judgements and statements about. God seems to reserve revelations on different planes of existence for those existing in those planes. why is this? Because our duty is here, not there. There won’t be a satisfactory explanation because the required information to make it doesnt exist. That being said, this is a forum and we can surely talk about this, and I think some insights can be gained from such a conversation Is my 3 year old unclean and unfit for God’s presence when he hits his sister? Of course not! Like Adam and Eve and all others under the age of 8, he isnt accountable for these decisions because he hasn’t been fully taught, nor is he even capable of understanding. But, as his father, I don’t look upon this act with allowance, no, I teach him, I discipline him. I do what I can to teach him how to be good. That doesn’t mean I kick him out the door and tell him to come back when he is righteous. Same with God. He doesn’t look on sin with allowance, but that doesn’t mean we are removed from his presence when we fall short. I believe whole heartedly that the affects of the atonement are all encompassing and can reach back to pre-mortal life. As for sin and uncleanliness in pre-mortal life, for the purpose of my explanation, there are three types of motivations that lead us to do wrong. weakness, pride, and rebellion. God’s grace covers weakness and pride so-long we are trying to grow, but rebellion is the motivation that keeps us out of God’s presence. The third of the host of Heaven seemed to be the group that rebelled. Rejected Heavenly Father entirely and all that he offered. At the end of the day, the gospel, the purpose of life, and all that we are here to do has everything to do with what we want. God provides some options, we pick which one we want, and we are blessed/cursed with whatever else comes along with that decision
