  6. Hi Carl,Teaching is a part of missionary work. You will often here the term "Serving a mission". Serving is a very important aspect of any missionary service. Each missionary will take time whenever possible to serve the people around him or her. This helps one to be humble, in touch with the people and do as Christ would do. Some of my own greatest missionary experiences came while serving the people. Teaching is also an intrinsic part of missionary labor. There are many different environments to teach in. They come from many different sources. Some will be generated from contacting people on the street, some door to door and some from media resources like this one. Teaching in ones home is preferred. In this environment the missionary is a guest and is respectful to the rules and privacy of the homeowner. It is also a great environment for one to feel of the Lords spirit. Men serve for 2 years and Women for 18 months. Thanks for the questions. -Jonathan
  7. I am not sure of your name, but am glad that you have come here to associate. I read your post today and appreciate you asking about Moroni. Moroni was the last Prophet whose words were included in the Book of Mormon. The plates or records that he was charged to keep were sought after by the wicked people who remained. his very life was at risk. He understood that the message found within the plates that he kept, would not be for his benefit; rather, they would benefit a future group who would find them. With that stage set, what would you say to to a future group to help them understand just how precious the record is? What would convince them of that? If you new first hand how many lives were lost to protect it and how precious the truths found within what would you say to those who would read it to help them sense the worth of tremendous record? The way in which Moroni invites us to ask God to know of its truthfulness was profound to me. I remember the many bible scriptures that I read wherein it stated that "what greater witness can you have than from God" Christ complimented Peter by saying "blessed art thou Simon Barjona, for flesh and blood hat not revealed it unto thee, but my Father, which is in Heaven." I loved that Moroni charged me to ask of God. It would be difficult for me to challenge someone to pray about a book, if it wasn't true. I want you to know that I know that the words found in the Book of Mormon have brought me closer to my Father in Heaven and his son Jesus Christ. I know that I am not forgotten, rather am known by them. I know, having prayed as you have that the Book of Mormon is inspired and that the words found within are true. Application of its words define its truthfulness. I wish you all the best and hope that you will continue to update. Warm Wishes, Jonathan
  8. I appreciate your perspective and have similar feelings. There are ways to allow all people the same general opportunities, but marriage was one of the last sacred institutions protected. The slope gets very slippery from here. One cannot allow same gender marriage and disalow plural marriage, or other non traditional sinful practices. The vista ahead is not serene for the conservative, spiritual God fearing soul.
  9. Good K. I read your other post you speak of here. You were not challenging all of what prophets and apostles say; rather you were challenging a specific doctrinal question, which was supported by many apostles, prophets, books and pamphlets of doctrine and other discourses given by general authorities. I believe where you are confused is at what time are they acting as apostles and prophets. In each case yesterday the content sited to you were recitals of the brethren acting within their assignments and authority, as Apostles or Prophets and speaking doctrinally. Using the approach that if an apostle says "it looks like it is going to rain outside" and is doesn't is not a proper justification for picking and choosing what is and isn't doctrine.
  10. I am amazed at the strength you have and others like you. I have never faced hostility from my family for my beliefs as they subscribe to the same. I have only received the hostility from others on the outside, who are also ignorant or critical of our beliefs. You will receive the priesthood when the time is right. Continue to make that your goal. This will bless your life and the lives of others who will be the recipient of your priest hood power. Keep up the good work. You are an inspiration to us. Jonathan
  11. I worked for several years with Britt's who loved to have their Earl Grey. I am sorry to report that it falls into the true tea category. Thank you for your willingness to seek clarification and dedication to the gospel principles. It is much more then just a law of Health, it is forgoing things that the world indulges in. Good luck, Jonathan
  12. The church keeps records of all who receive blessings and keeps a copy on file. You may be ok to destroy it. She would likely have received a duplicate copy by now or had made a copy of the original. I applaud your effort to handle it in a sacred fashion.
  13. Welcome Tracey. Glad to have you apart of this organization. Please tell all of your friends about this site. Best, Jonathan
