  1. I served a mission in the 70s. In our missionary discussion book, we had a page that listed about 20 scriptures in chronological order from the Book of Mormon. We would take a Book of Mormon and mark it up, circling scriptures and at the bottom write the next page number to go to, to read more marked up scriptures all the way to the back of the book. Then we would hand the book to anyone we would meet on the street. I wish they still did that because I thought it was a good way to introduce what is actually in the Book of Mormon and an incentive to read more of it. Well, I have lost my discussion book with those scriptures. Does anyone have that list and would you post those scriptures? I want to mark up a book and give it to a friend with my testimony in it.
  2. Hi Xiong. I haven't heard that story. If you have it or if you find it, I hope you will post it. I would like to read it.
  3. Yes I finally got the lyrics. The link was staring at me right in the middle of the web page. Thanks for your help too.
  4. For those who may not know, wellies is a word used in Scotland that means rubber boots that you wear in the rain. (Anyone who has ever dressed a child will love this one!) Did you hear about the Pre-School teacher who was helping one of the children put on his "Wellie boots"? He asked for help and she could see why. Even with her pulling and him pushing, the little "Wellies" still didn't want to go on. By the time they got the second "Wellie" on, she had worked up a sweat. She almost cried when the little boy said, "Miss, they're on the wrong feet." She looked, and sure enough, they were. It wasn't any easier pulling the "Wellies" off than it was putting them on. She managed to keep her cool as together they worked to get the "Wellies" back on, this time on the right feet. He then announced, "These aren't my Wellies." She bit her tongue rather than get right in his face and scream, 'Why didn't you say so?' Once again, she struggled to help him pull the ill-fitting "Wellies" off his little feet. No sooner had they gotten the "Wellies" off when he said, "They're my brother's "Wellies", my mum made me wear 'them.' Now she didn't know if she should laugh or cry. But, she mustered up what grace and courage she had left to wrestle the "Wellies" on his feet again. Helping him into his coat, she asked, "Now, where are your gloves?" He said, "I stuffed them in the toes of my “Wellies”". She will be eligible for parole in three years!
  5. Our Family Dog They will not go quietly, the dogs who've shared our lives. In subtle ways they let us know their spirit still survives. Old habits still make us think we hear a barking at the door. Or step back when we drop a tasty morsel on the floor. Our feet still go around the place the food dish used to be, And, sometimes, coming home at night, we miss them terribly. And although time may bring new friends and a new food dish to fill, That one place in our hearts belongs to them… and always will. ---Anonymous
  6. You're right. I left out the word million. That makes a big difference. Thanks for catching it. Hard to imagine something that is 10 million times brighter than the sun. Just amazing. Learning about that makes me wonder just how bright can something really get?
  7. Only because someone probably kicked them from behind pretty hard. Otherwise, forget it. They'll never fit through.
  8. Massive Star Link This star is twice as heavy as any previously discovered. It is 10 times brighter than our own sun. Knowing how bright our own sun is, it is so hard to imagine something being 10 times brighter. The video at the website was very informative. The universe is just soooo amazing.
  9. I agree. That was awesome. A sermon delivered in a hip-hop way and very nicely done. Thanks for the post.
  10. The church is creating a video about families and they are using a Russian production company. Maybe someone in the company will feel the spirit and listen to the missionaries. Here's the video about this story. The church will be able to show this video in theaters in Russia. It would be great to have them show it on their tvs as well. The church continues to roll forth and nothing will stop it as prophesied.
  11. How can a judge be gay and not let that affect him? Can you imagine the reaction he would get from his own homosexual community throughout this nation if he had voted to support Prop 8? He would never hear the end of it. And I think it would be a little contradicting of him to be gay and to then vote for in favor of Prop 8. So I think he voted the only way he had to vote. Californians voted twice to successfully define what marriage is and one gay judge overturns what the majority voted for. You would think you would get the same reaction from homosexuals had it been a heterosexual judge.
  12. I'm not so sure. I think many religions are concerned that if Prop 8 fails and homosexuals are allowed to marry the next step could very possibly be that homosexuals will fight for the right to marry in their own churches. Then civil rights will clash with religious rights. I don't know what the precedence has been in the past with those types of cases but I would hope religious right would prevail. But the way things are going, you never know.
  13. Even if we just leave religion entirely out of it and placed a hetrosexual judge instead of a homosexual judge, would he not be accused of being biased also? It will be the same thing with the 9th circuit court of appeals judges and even with the US Supreme Court judges. This is going to be very interesting. The majority of this country favors a man and a woman as the definition of marriage but the possibility of being overridden by judges who themselves may be homosexual will be something major. California's been through this twice. Now the rest of the country will have to be involved.
  14. Here is an article about Prop 8 and what may happen. Roe v Wade of Marriage Now I am really interested in knowing which way the 9th circuit court of appeals are going to rule. No matter which way they rule, this is going to the US Supreme Court. What are the possibilities that they will not review this case? What will happen then? But I think they will take this case. Too much depends on it. Now that Kagen is one of them, how will she decide?
