  1. first Winnie G wasn't passing judgement. she just basically said it was frustrating when people give odd or judgemental looks just b/c they might not be keeping with what the one person believes to be a dress code. just b/c you get frustrated with what someone does doesn't mean that you are passing judgement on them, its simply means they are doing something that really irritates you especially when it give our church a bad name b/c people are so judgemental. I personally had one of my best friends completely stop going to church b/c of the way people would look at her and make her feel judged b/c of things her family were doing. there was an incredible quote put out by a general athority, and goodness gracious heavens i wish i had that book mark with me, b/c once again i can't remember his name and i know i will not get the quote word for word. it basically says that people should teach the principles of the gosple and not the rules and standards of the church. yes there are things that we need to follow as members, but we also need to remember to love everyone and, "judge not lest ye be judged."
  2. I think he means that if an intelligent woman has more babies that means that mostlikely they will all be raised with love for learning instilled in them at a young age. and i'm sure the second coming will happen long before overpopulation has gotten to the point that people will be killing others over a loaf of bread.
  3. first off while sometimes unlawful and illegal can be inerchangeble this time it really can't. un·law·ful - not morally right or conventional il·le·gal - not according to or authorized by law what Nephi did was to stop a very unjust and evil man which to me was very conventional. as God himself said, "it is better that one man should perish than an entire nation to dwindle and fall." utilitarianism is sometimes a good value to follow. of course killing should not be taken lightly and is not something that anyone should be proud of. nephi tells of how he very strongly disliked this commandment of God however it was a commandment so he was going to follow it.
  4. sorry...i meant quote that snow gave.....don't ask why i said daizy
  5. I want to ad a little bit to what missy said. I agree with everything that she said and even looking back on that quote that daizy gave it says nothing about anyone being completely wrong. It simply says that they were in the dark. Perhaps the Lord left them in the dark for the same reason that missy gave.
  6. thats funny....I guess all message boards get off topic very easily.
  7. There are a lot of good things being said here. No one is completely wrong in what they are saying. This is simply a trial, granted a super huge trial for America, as was 9-11 and many other disasters. This test sure woke me up and made me realize that I have no supplies ready for this as the Prophets have repeatedly told me to have ready. I've only been on my own for about a year now but I know that I need to get up and start getting ready for anything like this that may accure where I live. I currently go to a singles branch that is half way accross town from me and I know there is a closer ward building and members that I should prolly look up incase something like this happens. In my parents ward they had a disaster tests where everyone was told to go to certain members homes or the church building, depending on where you live, with their emergency kits. Simply to make sure everyone knew what to do and what to have ready to bring along. Anyways, I'm simply saying that a drill like this could help out a lot and while they seem dumb at the time people really do need to be prepared and have things planned so that they can evacuate at a moments notice with supplies to last them for a little while at least. However, we should be willing to jump in and help out wherever possible. There are some people simply incapable to take care of themselves in the same way and yes there are those that are simply unprepared, but if we are able we should help. Yes it would be nice if they were more grateful but they just lost everything they ever had. How good of a mood would you be in after loosing everything in that way? They appreciate it more than anyone could know, its just hard for them to express it right now with how scared they all are not having any idea what will happen. How did the little boy, who thought to bring along a basket if fish and bread to listen to Jesus, react when Jesus asked if anyone had food? He didn't try to hide it thinking, I was prepared why can't anyone else be prepared. No, instead he willingly gave it to Jesus thinking, I have some food maybe this can help. Just think about all that has been said here by everyone. Don't get mad b/c of what some people said. Everyone has a good reason for saying what they did and none of it was really completely wrong.
  8. Next it will be. Oh its ok for the pre-schooler to hit five times for no good reason.
  9. I just want to say good luck aswell outshined. I'm praying that my unit will be called. I want so badly to simply help out.
  10. Ok, I know I'm new here, but what on earth does that have to do with the topic. That is a private matter that I'm sure has been delt with and doesn't need to be brought up anywhere else. I have a quote for everyone her concerning rules and regulations for anything. I'm horrible with names and cannot for the life of me remember who said this. My parents gave me the talk on cd for my birthday. "Love much and do what you can do. The Lord will take care of the rest."
