Church announces date for complete split from BSA
hadl replied to pam's topic in Church News and Events
Ummm... Thanks for making my point..I guess, who knows what you meant, but I do agree with your post to a certain point. I have seen scouting work in branches/small wards, it really comes down to the "want to" factor.. -
Oh well....life goes on lol. Atleast the Braves are doing well.

Church announces date for complete split from BSA
hadl replied to pam's topic in Church News and Events
I have always loved what the BSA was "traditionally" about, unfortunately I saw way to often that scouting programs were not being properly utilized in our units. Like others have stated, I saw this coming from a mile away and fully support it. A gospel centered/focused program could be utilized a lot more affectively for today’s youth. -

What gospel knowledge makes you joyful? What should?
hadl replied to richard7900's topic in General Discussion
I have always looked at happiness as something happening right now, while viewing joy as something eternal. Peace/comfort will lead you to having that "JOY", nobody is perfect and we have to strive to keep that joy in our lives. Easy things to find peace/comfort/joy in as it pertains to the gospel: it has been restored, the atonement of Christ, eternal families. -
It would be a heck of a story for sure.

I am a little biased, but I'd say cheer for the Gold & Blue. I think we play an exciting brand of hockey.

Please recommend me your favorite general conference talk from this year

"He That Shall Endure unto the End, the Same Shall Be Saved" https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2018/04/he-that-shall-endure-unto-the-end-the-same-shall-be-saved?lang=eng I agree with @Lost Boy, find time to listen to the entire conference....over and over again. -
"The Greatest Showman" Watched it with my wife, it was actually pretty good.

Nothing beats a good laptop and HDMI cable. Often people show up unprepared to teach, it can really detract from the spirit. We as leaders/teachers need to remember to teach to the audio, visual, and kinesthetic learner...not every one in the EQ or class is the same. Here are some ideas I have had or used: - Print off pictures and let the group talk about how it makes them feel - Use short video clips (nothing longer than a couple of mins) - Activities they/some can do that relate to the topic being taught Oddly enough all of this can be accomplished with their smart phones, TV, or perhaps something you bring from home.

That is awesome! I remember 1998 very well, before the Preds got to Nashville I followed the Huntsville Channel Cats (Huntsville Havoc now). I liked the Leafs...I remember liking them when I was much much younger, and utterly despising the Red Wings haha. It was a great time for my sports fandom 20 years ago, hopefully all their hard work pays off this year.

@MormonGator, thanks for P.K. lol. Playoff hockey is very exciting, this year has not disappointed yet.

I absolutely agree. The Lord has been preparing us for the current day/model of Ministering we are getting into. When I was a YM President/Scout Master (small ward), I had to adapt to the way the YM communicated and learned. It really opened my eyes, it helped me become more open minded to breaking outside our normal "church norms" and getting the youths minds in the affective domain.
