  1. I'm looking for an LDS podcast to listen to that is a little less formal doctrine, and more members talking about topics related to the Gospel. Does anyone know of such a podcast they'd like to recommend? Thanks in advance!
  2. Here, let's set EVERYONE'S hair on fire, shall we... HEAVENLY FATHER AND HIS SON JESUS CHRIST CREATED EVOLUTION! There, debate resolved. I'd like to thank you for reading my - and MINE alone - opinion. Should you be interested in more of my opinions, please feel free to contact me.
  3. 1 Nephi 16:10 "10 And it came to pass that as my father arose in the morning, and went forth to the tent door, to his great astonishment he beheld upon the ground a round ball of curious workmanship; and it was of fine brass. And within the ball were two spindles; and the one pointed the way whither we should go into the wilderness." Has there ever been any latter-day revelation regarding what the OTHER spindle does? This is not a question that will shatter my faith if the answer is "no". I'm simply curious, being an ex U.S. Navy sailor, and familiar with compasses and navigating.
  4. HI Matt. I apologize for coming into this conversation late, but you acknowledged something that I'd like to touch on. "...one does not have to serve a full time mission in order to serve the lord..." Absolutely correct. As the Ward Mission Leader, and a convert (at age 28, 20 years ago), I can assure you that your Ward Mission Leader would love to have your help!! Anything you can do will be welcome. I'm not sure if a Ward Missionary calling is what your are hoping for, but living "in the mission field", as we say here in Salt Lake City, gives you ample opportunity to share what your testimony of the Gospel and Jesus Christ with plenty of people waiting to hear that message.
  5. I'm 42, and have been since January, and I've had been an elder for almost 13 years. Guess what? Every time I am asked if I feel I am worthy, a little bit of me says no. I don't feel its the Adversary, but my own recognition that I am mortal, human, and not perfect. Guess what else? I still answer yes. In my opinion, anyone who doesn't have a small bit of doubt regarding their own worthiness is the one who has the Adversary with them, telling them that all is well in Zion. Again, that's just my opinion.
  6. So the 2000 Stripling Warriors, Capt Moroni, and I were/are all whacked? I rather take exception to that. Generalizing based on TV coverage of a natural disaster is deplorable, and shows a certain degree of laziness. If you feel that the current crop of military personnel are doing a poor job, by all means please feel free to volunteer and make things better! "And it came to pass that he rent his coat; and he took a piece thereof, and wrote upon it—In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children—and he fastened it upon the end of a pole." Alma 46-12
  7. It is also important to remember that part of the forgiveness process is forgiving yourself! Without self-forgiveness the guilt will always be with you.
  8. Hi. There's not much about me that is remarkable, but plenty that is ordinary. I have a firm testimony of the Gospel and Jesus Christ, but not one that will knock people off their feet. I honor and fulfill my callings, but not with any sense of flair. I know my home-teaching families intimately, but rarely hang out with them. I love my wife and three daughters, and will do anything for them at any time. If you would like to know more about me, just ask.
  9. Why don't I tell you a little about myself. I'm a convert of exactly 10 years and 1 month. I spent the first 28 years of my life acting like a big, hedonistic moron. I owe all that I am now to my wife of nine years. She intorduced me to the Gospel, and was my first Missionary. Had she not come along, towing the Gospel behind her, I probably still be a lost soul. As for family, we have one VERY precocious six year old daughter with one more on the way. So, as you can see, I am surrounded by girls, or as I like to call it, Treading Estrogen. I love being a member of the Lord's Church. I love learning more and more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I love my Father in Heaven and His Son, Jesus Christ. I'll be telling more about my story, but that'll do for now. Rick
