  1. @MormonGator, this is an odd reply since @Mores does not seem to mind the change. M.
  2. This is how I interpret what you have written. Your sons are priceless therefore they deserve whatever can be taught them whatever the cost and your daughter will benefit because her identity is based on what kind of "priceless" husband she will marry. Do you ever consider that your future daughters-in-law might have some qualitities in them that might benefit your sons? If so, how do you think these young women will learn to possess these qualitites? M.
  3. Since you are familiar with Mormon Stories podcasts, may I recommend another podcast that might shed more light on people experiencing a faith crisis. Allan and Kattie Mount are a married couple who have a podcast called Marriage on a Tightrope. Allan is now a non-believer, while Kattie is a believer. They share their experiences through this podcast with other married couples in similar circumstances. In one podcast they interview David Ostler who has written the book Bridges: Ministering to Those Who Question. It is published by Kofford Books and Deseret Book also sells it. David was inspired to write the book because of a calling he and his wife received. He is a believing member of your Church. I would recommend listening to this podcast if you wish to understand more about why members stop believing and attending. M.
  4. I definitely prefer the Canadian healthcare system, particularly Alberta Healthcare. I live in a large city so I have easy access to healthcare. Rural areas aren't as easy since if they require certain healthcare they need to travel, but I guess that applies everywhere. M.
  5. It's been a long time since I've had postum and don't remember the taste too well, but does it really need that much sugar? ๐Ÿ˜Š M.
  6. I don't know if you're going by anecdotal information here but I doubt it would take 6 months to confirm a MRSA diagnosis. For one thing if a person does not have a family doctor they can easily go to a walk-in-clinic in their neighbourhood without an appointment. Paper work would be given to take to an Out-patient lab (with or without an appt.) And of course time for the lab to grow a culture but probably not any slower than a US lab. And if someone wants a family doctor it's as easy as googling "doctors accepting new patients". Having access to a doctor is quite easy in Canada; in my province it is. M.
  7. I asked my son who Bryce Harper is......... .........poor Bryce Harper. ๐Ÿ˜Š M.
  8. It looks like karma is at work. At the top of the 7th, the Nationals got a weird call of Interference. I know nothing of baseball rules and I'm not cheering for the Nationals but the call seemed confusing and not fair. The next play they got a 2 run home run, which seemed to balance the previous play.. This may go to a Game 7. M.
  9. IMO, he knows what he believes he just has trouble articulating his beliefs to a large audience. M.
  10. The two teams are the Houston Astros and the Washington Nationals. I typically do not watch regular baseball but if I'm interested in the teams in the WS I'll watch. I'm cheering for the Astros. I watched them 2 years ago so some of the players have familiar names and a bazillion years ago the Nationals were once the Montreal Expos and who in their right mind would cheer for them. ๐Ÿ˜Š Also the Astros have a pitcher named Joe Smith. So, who is everyone cheering for? M.
  11. I really doubt you will be under water for 10 seconds. I would think 3 seconds at the very most. M.
  12. Hey Melanie, you may have better luck posting this question in the General Discussions sub-forum. M.
  13. Are there no non-religious private schools in Florida that are also very good at teaching reading, writing and arithmetic? M.
  14. Some people judge other people harshly who do watch R-rated movies. For me personally, I judge harshly people who do NOT proofread and therefore do NOT correct typos on anything they may write. ๐Ÿ˜‰ M.
  15. From @NeuroTypical's description, the Legion he mentioned is a TV series. The main character is David who is diagnosed with schizophrenia. Some of the characters are so strange that I find it hard to wrap my head around them. It's a creative show but too way out there for me. M.
  16. I watched the first season of Legion and survived. The first episode of season 2 was way over my head and I decided to stop watching. For me the show needs to be entertaining instead of too strange to really grasp what is happening. I first started watching it because the main character is played by Dan Stevens from Downton Abbey. ๐Ÿ˜Š M.
  17. It was "brown face" and "black face" and unfortunately Trudeau is our Prime Minister. ๐Ÿ˜Š M.
  18. Can I ask, what do you mean by this statement? M.
  19. I've read @Fether's post multiple times now and I still come away with the same feelings. I cannot read his mind or really understand the indepth point he is trying to get across because so far he hasn't expounded on his do's and don'ts list. I can only speculate that some of the items he chose for his list is because he himself likes and enjoys them. Why on earth does he think someone who sleeps longer than 8 hours could NOT be considered an elect of God but someone who retires to bed early and rises early can. To me, that is the definition of superficial. And the fact he didn't even consider the two greatest commandments were essential for his DO list tells me again that his thoughts behind his version of the elect of God is shallow. @Fether, if you want to go into more detail on why you chose the items you did on your list, I'm more than happy to read it. M.
  20. That's hilarious. My daughter has an "Alexa" and when I'm at her place babysitting my granddaughter I can ask it (her?) to turn on certain lights or play certain music. And when I do I always say please and thank you. It's weird in a way but it's just habit too. ๐Ÿ˜Š M.
  21. This article is over a year old. I don't use Twitter so I wasn't familiar with the ad. The article says the ad was pulled, are you saying the CPC did not pull it? M.
  22. I haven't seen anything like that here. Can you add a link about these ads? M.
  23. I understand what you are saying, I just don't understand how you view this, as you say, "rebellious/apostate movement" as seriously as you do. The mere fact that you and many others view a lot of members banding together to wear pants or purple as rebellious or apostate is unfathomable to my way of thinking. And the fact that these people felt much safer for doing this "activity" in a group (with many members), speaks volumes as to how strange Latter-day Saints bands together to "follow tradition or else". This group was not advocating for something that was against morality or something that was unethical, it was just bringing to everyones attention that this "Sunday best" tradition might need some expanding and less rigidity. M.
  24. If women wearing pants to church or men not wearing white shirts and ties to church is not against the RULES, then where is the rebellion? There are no RULES about what clothing is acceptable only that it should be "Sunday best" and many people have pointed out that "Sunday best" can be a variety of choices depending on a person's circumstances. I guess I can understand that traditionally and culturally your Church has defined "Sunday best" as dresses for women and white shirts and ties for men; but is going against TRADITION really a serious rebellious action? M.
  25. I'm starting to think that your list is superficial because your attitude (based on this post) is lacking in understanding about why being superficial in our interactions with other people is not satisfying or authentic. M.
