A lot of people in this thread has said they love Dark Chocolate. What is the difference between Green tea and Dark chocolate..when they have exactly the same amount of caffeine... Just curious....

Ceeboo, I've got a small story for ya. A woman I knew had been to Planned Parent hood many times, she had been convinced to get an abortion. The day she arrive for the procedure, for some reason, it wasn't opened yet. While she was in her car sobbing, she noticed a person going into the bldg next to PPH. It was the Pregnancy Resource Center here in Salt lake (they encourage everything except abortion, mostly adoption). She decided to go into the PRC. After talking with this person from the PRC, she decided to keep the baby and adopt it out. She was not encourage one time to keep the baby at the PPH, PPH pushed abortion, abortion, abortion. I know a family who was not able to have children, that now has a child......

True, concerning the story above. So your saying before we feed these people, the leaders who are there for the sole purpose of witnessing to the people in need, should either board a bus or step behind a truck in order to pray and give thanks for this food these people are about to receive? A lot of people did not listen to the pray, but, a few did. This is what impacts peoples lives.

Nice try MHW, We do not do it for everyone to watch, we are giving thanks, period. We are not embarrassed or have any discomfort to pray in public. We will help at the 400S overpass here in SLC, it is a Christian program to feed the hungry. The leaders pray before everyone eats. For this group of 300-400 people, that prayer is the only one they will probably hear in that week. Yes, some only care about the food, but, others are quite thankful. And Yes, I am shaking my head. Most LDS on this thread, have said, "it is uncomfortable to pray in public". I'll say it again. I think We can handle a little discomfort, as Jesus did when he was on the cross. Obviously, we have different beliefs. The people I know, don't let their feelings get in the way of giving thanks, no matter where it is.

Almost everyone mentioned being uncomfortable in their posts about praying in public. For a church who claims to be the "only true" church and claims complete authority, it seems funny, that most LDS would take the position of praying in their vans/buses before they eat at a restaurant. Every true Christian I know, prays in public before they eat or at any function (public or not). It reinforces what they believe and represents to others what they believe. Nothing like seeing a 20 top praying. It makes what they believe even more powerful..They don't care what other people think.

It seems a lot of people brought up the same word to describe why they do not pray in public. Most replied, we do not feel comfortable. I have lived here in Utah for a long time and I know many LDS families and families of other beliefs. I have also seen many of these families in local restaurants. My question is: I have noticed that all of the LDS families I know, do not pray in restaurants. I have been in local wards and stake houses, and lds do pray before meals there. Why not in restaurants? I do see young lsd at BYU praying before their meals, but not at public restaurants. Just curious..

That is an excuse. I personally know a few women who have raised/homeschooled and worked from their home. They did quite well. Like I said it is about choices and priorities.

That is not true, if you really want to home school your kids, you can down size. It just depends how important it is to you, what your children are taught. When our state decided to teach "Alternative Life Styles" to 2nd graders back in 1995, we decided our kids will have no part of it. We have home schooled our kids for the last 18 years. It is a choice....Should I buy the nice BMW? Do we need the house with the 3 car garage, or can we get away with 2 garage? Do we need that new boat? It is a choice... I had a lady who wanted to home school, I told her your going to have to downsize, she said "my husband will never get rid of his new durango".. It is all about priorities..

I had a renter up in Washington not paying his rent, his kids had all new cell phones and there were two new cars in the driveway. Yet, he couldn't pay the rent. I have no credit cards, I dont buy anything unless I have the money saved for it. I pay cash for cars and will not use credit. My kids have a budget, at 16 and 18, and are doing really good. They know the consequences of credit and living within your means.... BTW, My wife and I chose to live on one income for the last 18 years to provide a stable home for our children with my wife at home.

If we can't get answers from the lds, are we to rely on Anti sites? If you go to LDS.org and do the chat thing, ask simple questions, the screen will stay blank. If anyone asks me a question, I will get the answer to them whether I like it or not. I am obligated to share all aspects of what I believe, not just the aspects that sound good. CeeBoo. I have been told this in the past by Islander myself. Instead of answering questions, he yelled "moderator, moderator". The following questions below have been avoided by many. They seem to have been deemed anti. People read about things, people want answers from the horses' mouth, except no one wants to clarify or answer these questions. Lds say, "what are your intentions"? I say "what are your intentions" for avoiding theses questions/not answering them. I was kind of hoping you would address CeeBoo's questions? It seems when a direct question gets asked, the subject gets change or redirected..This is what is frustrating to us non-lds. We ask a question, lds don't like it, then start slinging the "Anti" label. How about just answering the questions.

Honestly, it starts in the home. If there is no parental involvement, or the parents are leaving a child at daycare for twelve hours a day. How can parents bond with their children, if the parents aren't there. Someone else it raising their children. No material thing can justify having someone else raise your children. My wife and I have had one income for over 18 years, for the sole purpose of having one parent at home all the time. My daughter has thanked us for that and they really need your attention more in their teens than any other time. IMHO We always know where are kids are at, we know what they are doing. We always have dinner together. We enjoy doing things as a family nightly and weekly. We also spend time with them individually as dates (one on one time). My daughter, since she was 13 has vowed to wait for her wedding night. She is now 18 and is quite adamant about waiting and focusing entirely on her education. I totally trust her..She knows the consequences for her actions. As I said, it starts in the home, they are influenced by what they see, hear and how others act. Being lead by example..

Sorry Otter, I am in agreement with Bytor all the way. NO one can justify the abortion of a baby (except for rape, incest and health of mother), just because the next day the mother deemed it Unwanted..She should have thought about that before the passion took over. Not so good for the baby..When the baby was the consequence for her choice.

Yes, you do teach that you can become a god, because the gospel principles are used as a teaching manual...../personal study, which implies doctrine. Why bring it up/teach it, if it is not doctrine.

DH, In Blessings of Exaltation (Gospel Principles), chap 47, number 2. Read slowly and then explain to the forum the difference between the next two statements. "I tend to believe that this means primarily becoming like God ". "They will become gods". This is why Fiona is doubting. Isn't this the core (deep) doctrine the root of your beliefs? Isn't this the meat you are talking about? Lets see we are encouraged not to discuss it here, and the anti sites are out of the question. I guess, it is something that can't be mentioned in this forum, according to some members. :huh: Where can this be mentioned? It isn't taught according to members, yet, the gospel principles state it is used as a teaching manual. :confused:

I would consider this a warning, even though a lot of people are really interested in this. I talked to some missionaries yesterday, I asked why is it so hard for mormons to admit they teach, "they will become gods". They denied they do, I then quoted the Blessing of Exaltation chap 47, they still said we dont' teach that. :huh: Isn't this what this forum is for, talking about lds doctrine......If we are asked not to discuss deep doctrine, are we to seek this information elsewhere, say from Anti sites?
