  1. Can't say that I have....I have heard about it though.
  2. Oh my goodness....all I have to say about those people is....wow:huh:
  3. what is the landover baptist ministry
  4. It's funny...most of my family in Ireland and that came over here do drink....ALOT...but then I have a few family members that will go to a pub or bar and drink tea or coffee. That is just how it is over there I guess....I can't say that I have ever seen an in between. But Ireland is a beautiful country and the people are soooo nice. Went there when I was 18 for my cousin's wedding...and yes I drank cause I could (being legally able to) and had a little too much fun at the reception. It was February so it was a bit chilly but not like it was here in Chicago....actually it was colder in the church during the ceremony than it was outside. Also got to see family I hadn't seen in years and family I had never met! Great experience!!! Can't wait to go back someday!
  5. I was watching a documentary the other night on television that was about this man. Let me tell you what a character!!!! He's a former attorney and Baptist preacher. He is 80 something years old and his congregation basically is made up of immediate and extended family...he has a large one. He and his family preach hate....that God hates everyone but them and that the rest of us are going to eternal damnation and so on and so forth. He and his family are fond of picketing especially gay pride parades...he really hates the homosexual community. They hold up signs saying "God Hates F*gs..things like that Well that sort of got me upset because I do have friends that happen to be gay but I'm not one to go against freedom of speech. Even though it is against most of our beliefs it really doesn't bother me. What really upset me and put so much anger and sadness in my heart was that these people were picketing funerals. Funerals that were for soldiers that died in Iraq...signs saying "Thank God for Dead Soldiers", "Thank God for 911" I mean come on!!! They actually believe that God is killing the soldiers on purpose because everyone is going to hell anyway and he is punishing people. Not only this but these people have their 5, 6, 7 year old kids holding these signs and saying nasty things to people. Has anyone heard of this guy before? I pray that they see the harm they are causing to other people and to their own children.
  6. Thank you for that Carol...could not have said it better...just a whole lot to type ...I'm also trying to "brush up" on the Church's teachings...been awhile.
  7. Not to start an argument or anything but the thing is that not all Christians think or beleive the same things...hence why there are so many denominations... I consider my self a Christian because I have accepted Christ as my Savior but am in some views not considered a Christian because I'm Catholic. Same as Mormons who I beleive are Christian just like me...just happen to worship differently. Most other denominations from what I have noticed have one major difference than what I was raised to beleive is the subject of the Virgin Mary...actually that would be a good topic of discussion is how come there is not a lot of focus on her. She did give birth to the Son of God...but yet doesn't seem to "get a lot of credit" I guess you could say from other faiths.
  8. I just joined this site Friday and was going through the forums and wanted to post my opinion.:)
  9. Yes it's true...most of us are alcoholics and we drink, fight and drink some more and then sing about it. St. Patty's day is not only a religious holiday where many locals and tourists make the journey up Caugh Patrick Mt to the church on top and say a prayer or go to mass, but also another reason to drink. But we also have excellent music and dance....I was an Irish Step Dancer...I would be to this day if it wasn't for my darn knees. My family in Ireland are the definition of Catholic...there is a big portrait oF Jesus in there hallway with candles around it...(scary at night) and there is a bottle of holy water in every room.
  10. I would like to meet the Pope....and just ask him how he came to know that this is what God choose for him.
  11. The difference between all denominations is the way they choose to worship...plain and simple. Also Catholics baptize their infants so that if they die before they are out of infancy their souls do not go to pergitory.
  12. I was raised Catholic but have gone to the "dome churches" and baptist churches just to get an idea how different everyone worships...it was definitely different that what I'm used to..(the boring mass) but I feel comfort in it. One church I went to was a Christian church called Christian Life which had a college attached to it. I went with a friend of mine and some of the members came up to me and after finding out that I was raised Catholic bombarded me with rude comments, telling me that my faith was bogus and I needed to turn away...that I was brainwashed. This I thought was not very Christian.
  13. It's funny that people talk about Mormon leaders lying like there are the only ones who do...I'm Catholic and I know that my church has been lying for centuries...others as well....devout evangelists also have had their share with leaders doing "immoral" things while preaching to everyone else not to do it. I just think it's funny.
