  1. Not even if your football team was eliminated?
  2. I can see that perspective; but I also wonder if God, knowing the beginning from the end, would have allowed an "early start" program - what with how epic a task it will be to play catch-up. Maybe that's why the Millennium will last 1,000 years - that's how long it'll take to get the work done.
  3. So are you suggesting I use a Ouiji Board to get my answer? Not sure I'd get the truth...
  4. The Jews used their Mikvehs for ritual cleansing. Whether that was meant as a baptismal rite, I can't say. Perhaps it once was, but the tradition was lost. But it's easier just to point to John the Baptist as a predecessor of Christ who was incorporating the ordinance in Jewish culture. But I'm just interested in Baptism for the Dead right now...
  5. Reminds me of President Uchdorf's talk about having our compass set just one degree off...
  6. I've been researching for hours, looking for a reference to when this ordinance was established. We know that it existed at Christ's time; and we know that Peter was given the Keys of Sealing... But did Christ institute the practice? Or was it a component of the Mosaic Law that was lost to history? Just looking for some definitive explanation, if it exists. Thanks all.
  7. 21.) He who doth not recognize the ancient good-opposing-evil lessons of these records of the people of Hogwarts and Muggledom and lay hold upon them and treasure them up in their hearts - verily, verily, I say unto you, shall have no reward in heaven.
  8. Yeah, I mean, just look at Harry Potter (born July 31)! Talk about mad skillz!
  9. Multiple wives? You must be a better man than I, because it takes all I've got to successfully navigate my life with just ONE daughter of God.
  10. I'm a mid-November child. I don't want to discuss my "stats", but I definitely don't fit that mold (by the Grace of God, no doubt).
  11. This is a topic that is often a source of drama between the letter of the law vs. the spirit of the law. I remember a Jack R. Christianson talk where a seminary student expressed concern over accidentally swallowing a bit of toothpaste while brushing her teeth. Kinda misses the point, I think.
  12. Quite frankly, I think our Savior would prefer we increase our faith and use the Priesthood He's granted to us. That's the REAL solution. :)
  13. David Ridges also has one. It's rudimentary, though. Not so much commentary as simply a modernization of the verbiage. A great book for tackling Isaiah for the first time, though.
  14. Based on the Dead Sea Scrolls, the texts were primarily Hebrew. There were minor portions in Aramaic and Greek, as well. See this link and look at #7 and #10.
  15. Whatever happened to the belief that "all good things come of God"?
  16. How well versed are you in Isaiah at this point? Is it all Greek to you? Or are you standing on a solid footing, looking for more depth?
  17. Sir, please step back into the line and remain silent, lest we have the IRS audit you and make you regret your outburst.
  18. As mentioned in the other thread, the answer is detailed HERE.
  19. Here's one simple rule that will guide you in all decision making: PLEASE DO NOT THINK THAT AT YOUR AGE YOU HAVE A CLUE ABOUT LIFE. YOU DON'T. NO, REALLY. EVEN YOU. YOU'RE NOT AN EXCEPTION TO THE RULE. If you can accept that reality with an appropriate amount of humility, you'll be on top of the world in no time.
  20. Taking this flawed logic to its extreme, we may as well ask ourselves "why hasn't the LDS Church solved world hunger yet?" "Why hasn't the LDS church remedied malnutrition?" "Why were there still healings needing to be performed after Christ's life and death?"
  21. Okay, my answer will probably by spurned and disregarded, but here's the truth that I have to share: At 18, you're not ready to make a lifelong judgment call like that. She may very well be the best thing since sliced bread - but you haven't the experience in life to qualify her right now. Recognize that you need to learn, grow, mature and BE AWAY FROM HER so as to prove the bond and determine whether or not it will last. The best thing you could possibly do for the Lord is SERVE. The best thing you could possibly do for the two of you is SERVE.
