  1. So a few days later with lots of prayer and contemplation and I feel much better. Thanks to everyone who posted. I found this on another forum site (wished I could have thanked the original poster): Our religion.. "clearly describes what salvation will be like...it gives other religions exactly what they expect and promise to their adherents-eternal life with Jesus in an unmarried state without progression toward Godhood...At the same time it holds forward an even higher degree of salvation-life with God and eternal progression-hence the additional ordinances of the Temple. After reading what everyone had posted, everything just clicked. Thank you...
  2. That is a good idea.....thank you
  3. So our definition of salvation (living with Heavenly Father...where we end up) is different? We have to do all these things in order to be with Him? Thank you everyone for trying to help me understand!
  4. I recently went through the Temple and have a huge amount of confusion on salvation. I don't understand how clothing, signs and tokens can matter when the Savior is The Savior. If I don't have the clothes, signs, tokens and eternal marriage I can't live in the highest portion of the Celestial Kingdom with Heavenly Father even though I confess that Jesus Christ is my Savior. Hope someone can clarify things because right now I'm wishing I had never gone to the Temple.
  5. Ask to VT by yourself. Tell your RS President you will even take the majority of the list.
  6. This year is Doctrine and Covenants.
  7. I thought it was interesting too that Doctrine and Covenants 1:38 was quoted or referred to at least 3 times. (Kevin R Duncan, Dallin H Oaks, Henry B Eyring) What I the Lord have spoken, I have spoken, and I excuse not myself; and though the heavens and the earth pass away, my word shall not pass away, but shall all be fulfilled, whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same.
  8. This is mind boggling....where can I find what is referenced to as HC. An example in D&C 23 chapter heading:Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Manchester, New York, April 1830, to Oliver Cowdery, Hyrum Smith, Samuel H. Smith, Joseph Smith, Sen., and Joseph Knight, Sen. HC 1: 80. I know this is referring to The History of the Church not Joseph Smith History. I can't find it anywhere. Can anyone enlighten me to where I can find this? (it's not even a clickable link on the Church website when you pull up any section of the Doctrine and Covenants that has HC in the chapter heading)
  9. You guys are absolutely wonderful! Thank you!
  10. I wish I could have taken the training before we start classes. It was last week. I think that I'm going to see if I can sit in a class somewhere in the Stake and contact someone to see if I can get any printed material from the last training. Could someone fill me in on "magic square?" I watched a video on youtube on one for the Old Testament. This year is Doctrine and Covenant. Is this just a way to visualize all the scripture mastery for the year? I found the little poems that go along with everything (D&C 1 search commandments everyone). This seems like a wonderful way to remember everything, but I just don't get where everything goes on the square. Thanks to everyone!
  11. You guys are funny!! Duct tape and sweet rolls....I love it!
  12. I was just called and set apart today. I'm very excited and will be teaching in my home. Does anyone have any helps or clues on how to make it a wonderful year? p.s. I'm a convert and have no experience with seminary other than my daughter's experience last year!
