  1. As wingnut said, you will be asked a set of questions in an interview before your baptism. They include asking if you live the word of wisdom including not drinking tea, coffee, or alcohol. If you say no meaning that you do drink those things then your baptism would be delayed until you can give these up.
  2. Well I don't know of any place you should go. But THis is something you need to work on between you and the Lord. Don't let anyone else tell you how to act. If the prophet says something we know it is right but it is still up to us to develop our own testimony about those things. I guess i would suggest you go into your room or somewhere private. Take you scriptures, read them and pray. You might even consider fasting about it. Don't let anyone else tell you that you can't make it to the celestial kingdom because of this. They have no authority to declare you unworthy of the celestial kingdom. Only Christ can do that!
  3. I think it depends on the issues. Obviously if the issues are believing in modern prophets and that the Book of Mormon is scripture, then perhaps it might be best not to be a member. BUt as far as most other issues are concerned it's not that big of deal. We are all at different levels of understanding. It's up to us to learn and grow. Where that learning and growth will take us only God knows.
  4. I votes on the one closest to my opinion, #2. I do not believe evolution is possible nor do I believe God uses it. I do, however, believe that adaptation can occur and does occur often. But I do think new species can form, only because of the way scientists classify species. But I don't think new types of animals can emerge from others. Such as a frog couldn't turn into a bird or stuff like that.
  5. Moshka don't forget the bank trust that eventually (and secretly) became the Federal Reserve and now has a monopoly on our money. But to the questions addresses before, I'm discussing the tendancies of captialism. Obviously government regulations and interference would alter this. Basicly what I'm saying is that the driving force of capitalism is greed and every man for himself. We need an economic system that is about helping each other, but also that doesn't turn ownership of property and industry over to the government.
  6. I think the bailouts were a horrible idea. But the CEOs of those banks don't, Hint hint, wink wink, money money. I think we should get rid of the Federal Reserve and return to Abraham Lincoln's early, and unfortunately temporary, greenback policy.
  7. Because the theory behind business operation is to get the most profit for the least amount of cost. Wages are a cost. Thus the perfect systemn for a business would be one where they would have to pay no wages but still get the same or more labor, a.k.a. slavery. And competition works for a while until the better businesses start to win out. They earn more money and can then buy out their competition, thus increasing their profits. Eventually there will only be one business owning everything else(a monopoly).
  8. Capitalism is a tool of the devil. The perfect capitalist system would be business owners getting free labor. That's the direction capitalism naturally moves. It slowly gathers all the wealth to a select group of owners. There are benefits to capitalism just as there are benefits to other systems. We should take these benefits and put them together to come up with a better system.
  9. Yeah those producers seem to get in the way of everything.(not being sarcastic. I'm serious)
  10. Sorry. The only Filipino languages I speak are Tagalog and a bit of Ilokano.
  11. Male= 19-26 I think Female= 21 and up Yes. No. Member of teh church contribute to the missionary fund. The fund then is distributed to according to the needs of missionaries in a particular area. Example: The cost of living in teh Philippines is much less than the cost of living in England. Missionaries always work in pairs occasionlly there will be a set of three. But as far as going to the mission. A missionary will arrive at the MTC(Missionary Training Center). There he/she will be assigned to a district and branch(usually made up of other missionaries going to the same or nearby missions). He/she will also get a companion. After training the missionaries will travel to their area. Sometimes they will be with other missionaries or sometimes alone. I was going to the same mission as a sister missionary so it was just us two for a while. The prophet. Nope you don't get any say. teach people about the Restored Gospel of Jesus CHrist. A missionary will live in an apartment. The mission is incharge of finding and renting apartments. A missionary is not allowed to have a job on a mission. Yes. A companionship will report to their District leader. A District leader will report to the Zone leader. The Zone leader will report to the Assistants to teh President and to the President. Every Missionary will also send a weekly letter to the Mission President. There are also various meetings and interviews. Already explained above. Yep. We are encouraged to go on missions but it is up to the individual. Nope. Man, answering these questions is starting to make me homesick for my mission. Dang......
  12. I don't mean to be offensive by any of this but: What's wrong with buying meat in a supermarket? I've never heard anything saying this is a bad thing. What type of rating system is this? I'd never do this. Not because I'm afraid of seeing some nude celeb or somthing like that. But simply because...They're Full of Crap! I don't listen to the radio in the car on sunday. I only ever listen to the radio in the car. But the TV has been known to be on on sunday. I wouldn't watch these even if they weren't all about sex. They're Crap! I'll probably do this for my children when I have them. I'm on my laptop often, but my wife usually restricts my time on it. I agree with BenRaines(kudos to you too Ben). I buy real guns and I'll teach my children how to use them properly. My wife loves guns too. For our dates we go out shooting.
  13. Be sure to put the blame where it actually belongs. On the Bankers that control the Federal Reserve and the Politicians. Why the Federal Reserve Violates the U.S. Constitution. The editing on this video isn't that great but the content is good. America: From Freedom to Fascism This one is great! Our children deserve to know the truth!
  14. I disagree. The gold/silver standard was just another tool of the big bankers to opress the people. The US needs to go back to the system Abraham Lincoln established to fund the civil war. He just printed greenbacks and set their value. Unfortunatly it was a temporary measure and when he tried to make it permanent he was assasinated. Agree. Agree. Not sure if I agree or disagree. I think citizens should have the right to certain things free of charge. And I definatly don't think the government should force people to have to use the "free" market. Agree. Although walk-in immigration such as with Ellis Island should be brought back. Although many more of these facilities should be built and be sanitary. I never really thought about this but it's an interesting idea. Not sure if I agree or disagree. Agree. There should be no indoctrination either. Teacher should be one of the highest paying jobs in the nations. And Public schools should only be controlled on the local level. Mmmm. Not sure about this. Agree. Although I don't see a problem in having alliances with other nations. Maybe. If by this you mean stop being the world police then I agree. I would also like to add a number eleven. 11. Despel national fear of militias. Reintroduce the militia as it was intended by the founding fathers.
  15. It means being loyal to and upholding those ideals that you believe in. Yes. I am loyal to those causes and ideals I believe in. I am patriotic towards rights of life, liberty, and property. And to other principles not of democracy but of freedom. It depends on what you are patriotic towards. Yes. Especially if the government is violating the ideals a person believes in. Or even worse the government is violating the ideals it is supposed to represent!
  16. It's amazing that people are just now realizing the incompetence of America. Not refering to you, just people in general. :) Yes America was founded great. And it had done many great things however I think it's time is coming to an end.
  17. Very true. However I wasn't making a comment about the morality of it. I was simply answering wether it was abuse or not in relation to their culture. I rememberthere was that big thing in India where they would throw the children off the wall and catch them in the blanket. If it's part of their culture then obviously it wasn't child abuse. But wether or not is was morally right is a diferent question. But, going a little off topic, when are they going to start holding children accountable for parental abuse?
  18. Because God had a different purpose of Laman and Lemuel than Laban. My jury is still out on this one. I've made wooden swords fashioned after metal ones. But that still doesn't answer the question. For me when I think that about one thousand years of history is compressed into just a few hundred pages; it doesn't make much sense as a historical textbook. Meaning that while there are historical elements included it can hardly be used to come up with a detailed analysis of an ancient civilization. The important things contained in there are spiritual not historical. To me the sword question is irrelevent because we currently don't have enough information. It's like trying to but together a few hundred piece puzzle with over half the pieces missing. So for me, until we get the rest of that information, I'm putting those "contradictions" aside. I think these terms were more relevent back in the 1800's. We know righteousness is not determined by skin color. However there is a scripture in the Bible I believe that talks about a man being cursed but God and his skin turning dark. However this scripture explains that his skin turned black not because of the curse but because God curse the land. Because of this curse the area became arid and had more sunlight. Because of the increased sunlight his skin turned dark. Perhaps it's a similar thing. I don't remember the reference right off hand. I'll find it later. In any case, I will continue reading but so far my thoughts and feelings lead me to think that it is a product of man, rather than divine truth. But then again I'm only a fraction of the way through, so I'll keep you guys posted :) P.S. Yes, I'm back, and I'll try to use this site for the original purpose I came here for and not get tangled up in politics.
  19. I don't think so. It's part of their culture.
  20. Well according to what I've read Joseph Smith gave several "black" people the priesthood. But when you at the twelve tribes of isreal only a certain tribe was allowed to have the priesthood; the rest couldn't have it. It doesn't mean God hated or dispised those people, or that they were unworthy, it was just His own reasons. I don't know His reason but I'm sure they are perfect and righteous.
  21. Yeah I noticed the"like unto" part. Not saying they will be one. But like unto one.
  22. The church should put out recycle bins then recycle all the paper thrown in them for use in making church materials.
  23. Yes I meant slavery. Sorry if that is offensive. But to me killing raping enslaving torturing thousands of people is not quite as bad as the enslavement of an entire planet by a few rich bankers. Causing war and turmoil all over the world for the sake of profit. And then doing this for over a hundred years. Yes American slavery was bad. But the effects of the Big Bankers, then the Federal Reserve/Central Banking system, have devistated this world far worse than American slavery did.
  24. So do I(meaning still calling it Ricks). Hehehe
