  1. D&C 6 21 Behold, I am Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I am the same that came unto mine own, and mine own received me not. I am the light which shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehendeth it not. 22 Verily, verily, I say unto you, if you desire a further witness, cast your mind upon the night that you cried unto me in your heart, that you might know concerning the truth of these things. 23 Did I not speak peace to your mind concerning the matter? What greater witness can you have than from God? 24 And now, behold, you have received a witness; for if I have told you things which no man knoweth have you not received a witness? This gave me comfort when my own husband turned away from the Church. I hope it helps you as well.
  2. Read the fine print and beware people wanting your money more than you do The scriptures quoted are the ones I would have looked up lol.
  3. Remember all those crazy mausoleum horror movies from the 80s? The one I remember had a bunch of evil jawa-looking creatures who come through a portal from some horrible dimension. I couldn't sleep well for about 3 months >< I'm sure my daughter thinks I'm terrible but I won't let her watch anything worse than the Twillight Zone.
  4. Cherry Coke is one of the few things that can keep me awake in the middle of my 12 hour night shift (Swiss Miss hot chocolate with the little marshmallows also works ).

  6. God is a pretty awesome deity, i agree. Anyone that can come up with penguins and Neptune all in one universe has a great sense of humor.
  7. Final Fantasy IX. The stuff is like sugar cookie dough, you can't stop!
  8. Wow seems like a pretty harsh reaction to talking to members of the 'axis of evil'....good luck!
  9. Just curious, why would you want a decaf? I would think if you're drinking coffee you might as well go for the good stuff You inspired me, btw. I went and added up all my reciepts from the past few days after payday and the amount of money wasted on plain old 'stuff', things that are even now sitting lonely and lost on my livingroom floor where the kids left them, is astounding.
  10. Personally, I am a big believer in judicious bribery. I should call it reward/punishment parenting model In fact, that's about the only reason my daughter even gets an allowance, so she can see immediate consequences for her poorly thought-out actions. Time-outs, swats (when she was little), sitting in corners, nothing came close to the wailings and gnashing of teeth when $$'s were taken away. Every child is different, each child has their own little view of their world. Parents know best what will work on their child and what will not. Parents of the Ward, I salute you and your honest attempts at child-rearing.
  11. This reminds me of something that happened to one of my uncles a while ago. We had the pleasure of being in Elder Haight's homeward in Idaho (that man was awesome). This particular uncle and his very large, very young, family ALWAYS sat on the front row right in front of the speaker. One day Elder Haight was speaking when he stopped, looked my uncle right in the eye, and not asked but told him in no uncertain terms to take his squirmy little one out of the chapel. He waited until my uncle was all the way out of the chapel before resuming his talk. My uncle had the best-behaved kids in the whole ward after that.
  12. And there's the reason why the little devil/angels are kept in the chapel. Sure it's great that parents teach their kids how to behave in church etc., but everyone else has to suffer through the manners lesson. When my own little spawn (yeah I call her that when she's bratty) was little, from 9months to about 3 years, I had no problem taking her out of the chapel. In fact, for about 3 years we ended up sitting in the overflow areas. What's funny is now she wants to sit in the chapel but I don't really want to cause we can't sneak out to Dairy Queen during the last song unless we're in the overflow
  13. I apologize for laughing, the incongruity of someone yelling at an investigator for attending church startled me.
  14. I went to church last Sunday with blue hair so you see, if you don't go you might miss something like that Seriously though, I understand what you're talking about. But you need to make going to church a priority not because you miss it, but because it is required of you in order for you to progress. Do you want to stay in this 'blah' state forever until you lose that last little spark of divinity in you that so desperately needs to be nourished? You are a child of the living God, with all the rights and responsibilities that go with it. Stand up tall, shoulders back, and walk into church next Sunday with all the confidence of someone who is there because she is meant to be there. And know that I will be there too, blue hair and all.
  15. Sort of a different look at the subject....I was told since my daughter was 5 that she had all the signs of ADD and even reverse ADD (did you know there was reverse ADD? I'm still not convinced ). I didn't want my daughter to take anything stronger than baby ibuprofin so we muddled through the next few years until I took her in for an eye exam. Turns out she was very farsighted. In fact, almost all the signs of ADD are also the signs of vision troubles in small children. Nowadays my daughter is doing her school work instead of aimlessly looking out the window and actually sitting still and reading books when she's at home. I'm just glad we found out now instead of when she'd have completely tuned out school and reading. If there is any doubt I recommend taking your little ones to see the eye doctor, paying for a pair of glasses is a lot cheaper than medicine and therapy for 10+ years.
  16. well, if the usa is going down you can bet we'll take everyone else with us *^.^*~
  17. Can you imagine being one of those soldiers? Patrolling in Iraq is bad enough, but to know you're using all you learned in the military against your own people has got to mess with your mind.
