  1. I'm sorry. The only thing I can tell you that hasn't been said is it gets easier over time.
  2. November 12th is my favorite day of the year The Trans-Siberian Orchestra is brilliant! I love that members of one of my all-time favorite groups, Savatage, make up a few of it's founding members. I am so excited for Christmas this year. Gwendolyn is 4 years old and this one will be the start of the magic.
  3. I love how it's always the poor who have the onus to make the world a better place. Like, the responsibility of the wealthy begins and ends with meeting government regulations on wages/hours/safety regulations. Also, who is going to help the underserved if it isn't the government? If one cannot petition the government for redress from unethical employers then what is an individual suppose to do?.'Get a better job/you made the choice to work there/you should have gone to a college you can't afford' works only when there is a choice. When all the employers in an area offer the same level of wages no matter what level of education you're stuck. *Takes a deep breath* I wasn't going to say much, really. But I felt there had to be a counterpoint to all this job-creator love.
  4. This is why I stopped talking politics on this site. Too many people using the same definitions for completely different words But I have to add: It shouldn't be surprising if nations which espouse (and practice) Christian ideals enjoy the most personal freedoms. Love one another, and by their fruits ye shall know them.
  5. Thank you so much, it means a lot. She's doing as well as can be expected. My dad has had many heart attacks and episodes over the years that us kids have pretty much got use to the idea that he's immortal. But she's always known that one day this would happen.
  6. Here is a great article I read and immediately thought it would bring a lot to the discussion http://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/18/magazine/who-gets-to-graduate.html?action=click&contentCollection=Opinion&module=MostEmailed&version=Full&region=Marginalia&src=me&pgtype=article
  7. No question. Just pondering the idea that someone who has the opportunity to play the violin in a community orchestra (lives in a community with an orchestra), attends a school that offers quirky little sports like golf, has the start - up capital to create a business, knows enough publishing people to get 4 books out into the world (even 1 book is amazing, it's a difficult world to break in to, those must be awesome books), and has the time to help inner - city kids with problems not faced by his peer group (assuming this person doesn't live in an inner-city, sorry), is somehow under served by his community.
  8. PC, can you read what you wrote again, please, with regards to privilege
  9. I wonder why my tiny baby sleeping so peacefully next to me acts like she's a big girl when she's awake (ó﹏ò。)
  10. oh I totally forgot about the fish genes in tomatoes
  11. Everything will be ok, really. Heavenly Father is ready and willing to bless you and the little life you're growing. Be open to inspiration and take care of yourself! Being a single parent isn't the end of the world, and adoption isn't, either.
  12. My objection to GMOs is their parent companies business practices, including going on to non-customer's farms and stealing samples of the plants to test for patented genes from cross-pollination and then suing the poor farmers. The actual gene tampering to increase yields are a good thing, IMHO . edit: I apologize for errors, apparently my wireless keyboard's batteries are dying.
  13. I am happy, in my heart of hearts, because I am a daughter of God who loves me, and I love Him. I think that once that was firmly implanted in my heart my life (with all it's many twists and turns) got a lot sunnier.
  14. I knew this story sounded familiar, a lot like this one: http://lds.net/forums/topic/48855-bring-baby-sammy-home/#entry715603 Looks like this is becoming a trend.
  15. I know I haven't been on much lately, but did you have to change the locks on the doors? I had to get a new password Love the new paint, btw. Very pretty ^^
  16. We have damage case sales for employees once a month. If I'm lucky I can get 30 lb boxes of tater tots, hash browns, the potato cubes with peppers and onions, and yup popeyes for only $1/case. Needless to say, I'm very popular with my local family
  17. I make delicious french fries at an Idaho potato processing plant. Popeyes is my favorite but that batter can be a pain sometimes.
  18. This sounds like the 'prosperity' movement out there (i.e. think rich and money will magnetically go to you). It is true that people like being around cheerful, happy people, and Mormons have a lot to be happy about, but a Glow has too many variables for it to be simply a Mormon thing.
  19. This isn't the only one, either. That particular area has a bad rep.
  20. We're getting worried about the snow pack here in Southern Idaho. I see a lot of special fasts in our future.
  21. I LOVED this movie! I loved the twist, I loved the cgi, and I loved that song the little sister sang trying to get her sister to play with her (yes, I got teary), but I wish the ice guy would have ended up with the queen, he had a true appreciation for her talents. I admit, when the queen did her self-esteem transformation and suddenly gained Jessica Rabbit hips I was scared. But fortunately it turned out all right.
