  2. Hope he can come back again again! I miss you, thekabalist.
  3. I can't stand Beck and I don't like it when he is associated my Church.
  4. Thank you so much, thekabalist. Welcome back!
  5. Sorry about the back pain, and I'm SO glad you're "back"!!
  6. http://www.ldsces.org/inst_manuals/ChrchHstryInst32502000/start_here.pdf Enjoy!!
  7. So, is thekabalist coming back? What do you think? Please come back, thekabalist!
  8. Hi Ben, your 29-yo daughter sounds fantastic! When can I meet her?! How tall is she by chance? I'm 6'4".
  9. thekabalist, are you familiar with the LDS understanding of the stick of Ephraim (or Joseph) spoken of in Ezekiel 37? We understand the stick of Judah to be the Holy Bible and the Stick of Ephraim to be the Book of Mormon. They are meant to be "one" in the Lord's hands. What do you believe or think that these two sticks (re: scrolls) refer to? What do you understand to be the fate of the Tribe of Ephraim? Here is a FAIR article on the subject: Book of Mormon as the stick of Ephraim - FAIRMormon
  10. I wish I knew Hebrew. It's amazing that one word in Hebrew carries so much significance. In English, it takes many words to vocalize an idea.
  11. Dang, kabalist - you've hit a Homerun!
  12. kabalist, what do you do for a living? Are you in academics? Sorry if I'm being too nosy. :)
  13. Oh man, you are so awesome! Thanks, thekabalist!
  14. Well put. Your insight is REALLY appreciated!
  15. This reminds me of something written in the title page of the Book of Mormon: One of the purposes of the BoM is "to show unto the remnant of the House of Israel what great things the Lord hath done for their fathers; and that they may know the covenants of the Lord, that they are not cast off forever." I really like what you've written here. Even though, we don't believe in the Trinity as most other Christians do, we do believe that Jesus Christ is divine. However, his divinity only shows to us our own potential divinity as sons and daughters of God. I like your phrase, "highest ranked heavenly being" - this aptly describes Jesus Christ, being the greatest of all the sons and daughters of God. WELCOME BACK, TheKabalist!
  16. Thanks again, thekabalist! I wanted to comment that you are free to also discuss anything in the Book of Mormon that you don't understand. If you read something, that doesn't seem to jive with you, feel free to discuss it with us. One of us might be able to answer any questions you have.
  17. No Problem - Take your time. I enjoy your insights and analysis so far. It's great. Everything you have written so far has been so great and so spot-on. As you'll see in Chapter 11, the "Great and Spacious Building" is not a vision of the Holy Temple, but represents the pride of the world. It represents a group of people who mock those who are trying to keep the commandments and they are built upon a house with no foundation. Thekabalist, thank you so much for your analysis. It's greatly appreciated.
  18. Finrock said what I was going to say already. As you read Chapter 11 of this same book, you'll see that the Iron Rod is explained to be the Word of G-d, which is also described as a "sword" in other scripture, that "divides asunder". Thank you again for your insights.
  19. Chapter and verse would be great. Example: 1st Nephi: Chapter 8 I love reading your insights here. Thanks for taking the time to share with us. P.S. I misunderstood. You mean like a book that is bound and sold? I don't know if there is anything like it that would be comprehensive for the entire book. Unless you are an academic faculty in Hebrew and Religious studies, you may want the backing of such. Good Luck.
  20. It's funny. My best friend in my medical school class is an Orthodox Jew. We get along really well and he invites me over for Shabbat Dinner every now and then, which I love doing, and I've even joined him for Friday night services at temple. He's said to me that Mormons and Jews are the same, except for "all that Jesus stuff" as he likes to say. What a great guy, my Jewish friend is. It's interesting that so many Christians damn so many to Hell and my Orthodox friend is such a better person than so many of my Christian friends of my age. (I'm < 30 y/o). The Christian understanding that so many are going to Hell is such a confusing and off-putting doctrine.
  21. Thank you so much! Please continue when you have the time.
  22. I'm sorry - I've lived here 2 years and I don't know the names of the counties. It's whatever county the Shoal Creek development is in. From KC Go North on 35, then West on 152 for a few minutes.
