  1. I don't know if I've had mexican 'insanity' peppers before, but I love my spicy food... My idea of bliss is eating a really really hot vindaloo in a well air-conditioned restaurant... because you are perspiring like crazy, but the dry cold air from the air-con is absolutely amazing as it soaks it all up before it becomes droplets.... that crazy feeling of really hot and cold at the same time is indescribable.... gah... making me want some now!!! Don't try to take my spice away!! I live in a hot climate and need my spicy foods to survive!!!!!!
  2. Perth, Western Australia (Dianella, next to Dianella Ward Chapel). If you look to the left you can see the edge of the chapel I attend whilst our Doubleview Chapel is being redone... so lucky to be so close to a temple (5min drive from home ) Beautiful Huh!!!!
  3. I don't believe in "global warming" (as the earth is in a cooling trend right now), i do however believe we are making the earth ever increasingly more toxic with our waste. More and more species are becoming extinct everyday and third world poverty is making large areas of the world borderline-uninhabitable. This is all due to the consumerist way in which our societies are based upon, I think a real change in attitude is required and that we stop using the planet as recklessly as we do. Live more humble lives, less possessions, smaller cars etc etc and do more conservation work and more study into sciences that can help reduce our toxic footprint on this planet.
  4. bacon and eggs... oh wait did you mean romantic couple?
  5. Then I arrive at the Celestial Kingdom and G-d says in a booming voice "Did you find out why the temple water was blue? I've been dying to know!"

  7. maybeh not bill's image.... but obama's image.. in any case.. after bush... a shaved gorilla looks good.
  8. people don't like him because they think hes a communist, a communist who has no experience (especially millitary) ... i think he's gotta be the best thing for america since bill clinton at least image-wise.
  9. But i started asking people in the temple, like the old man (electrician) who was on reception, a few ladies that wander around in all white... nobody knew... but I'll ask when I book my next temple visit. yeah im pretty sure that temples are made differently, some things are universal like the oxen etc, but our font looks nothing like the photo of the saltlake temple font i saw on wikipedia.
  10. geeky, lazy, funny, inquisitive, charming (haxor with social skills) i would have said disorganised, but really i just organise myself in chaos, and that would've taken up far to many words.
  11. I think a brief apology would have been more than enough, really sucking up to someone who you dont have a strong bond with comes across very insincere. well thats my opinion. don't suck up, just be pleasant thats all you can do, dont just cater to their ego. i generally treat people the way i want to treat them, which is usually pleasant and nice as that's my natural personality, that same personality wont let me suck up... i'll leave that for teenagers in love...
  12. sounds perfectly reasonable to me. I'm in total agreance that evolution was part of G-d's plan. As i said earlier in this thread, the only places where my take on evolution separates from those of non-religious science types is that it was G-d's original intention and that humanity was a separate blessing from G-d given to a vessel that evolved.
  13. Evolution is directly observable so is undeniable, just look at the food we eat. Have a look at carrots today and then look at a wild carrot compared to the carrots were all used to. now this is an observable direct result of evolution, as the second type of carrot didn't exist before humans influenced their evolution. Over a long long period of time humans replanted the biggest juiciest carrots, and hence the smaller carrots didn't get the chance to pass on their genes. This is the case with most of the vegetables we eat today, their naturally occurring(before human influence) cousins look nothing like what we eat today. All of this however certainly not rule out that this was G-d's original intention, as he has a greater understanding of the universe than we can ever know.
  14. it's strange that you mention that you drink coffee because you only get 5h sleep, because I'm very much the same i get ~5h sleep a night and I don't drink caffeinated anything. This is because my body simply doesn't want to sleep that long, thing is I used to need more sleep when I drank Coke by the truckload, when I used to sleep 6-7h a night. Also, as I said earlier, replace it with water, get into the routine of drinking lots of water, in the beginning of me switching from Coke I spent about the same amount of money buying bottled water, but after time I switched to regular tap water. But, during that first period I was more than happy to spend that money getting bottled water. Because it kept me in the exact same morning routine as before, and after about a week I had more energy than I could use, I was staying up most of the night not able to sleep (though that's calmed back down to a stable sleeping pattern). oh man, what are you doing!
  15. yeah no, and no FD&C1 stains everything it touches, and we dont enter the font in blue jumpsuits and I'm pretty sure that Satan doesn't rule the waters in G-d's house. Well, we can remove the stainless steel from that equation as I'm pretty sure the lining of the baptismal font here in Perth, Australia is white fibreglass, it's certainly not any kind of metal. I didn't notice any fluorescent lights in our temple only incandescent, perhaps halogen lights, but I'll have to check to be certain.
  16. when i joined the church i decided to give up drinking coke (i used to drink >2L daily) and saw it in 'the spirit' (not the letter) of d&c to give it up and it was far harder than giving up smoking cigarettes ~3 years ago. I learned to not replace it with something similar(ie soft drinks in my case), but replace it with pure fresh healthy water. If adhering to the WoW is something you desire then Heavenly Father will give you the support you need to accomplish that (though you gotta meet him half way ). sure there's no d&c against that, but isn't it like dangling a carrot in front of a rabbit
  17. lol.. obviously i was referring to more than usual amount, as in dissolved oxygen not chemically bonded.... cmon i do know what Dihydride-monoxide is
  18. Perth, Western Australia (Warwick Stake, Doubleview Ward) fantastic place to live, and we need more LDS members here, our ward boundaries are wayyyy too big I'd like to live a bit closer to a chapel
  19. hahaha, that post was very amusing yeah, I'm not 'worried' about it as such, as there are much deeper questions/realisations I'm coming to now that I'm part of the true Church of Jesus Christ, whereas as a Presbyterian Christian, I thought all Christian denominations were right but now from a spiritual and an educated viewpoint I'm finding that not to be true, with education confirming what has been revealed by the Holy Ghost. But, you know... I always like having little interesting things to talk about with fellow members, blue temple water was something light and amusing, unlike last wednesday's institute class that turned into an awful discussion about miscarriages and fetuses *cringe* being sealed to their parents or whether they get a second chance at an earthly body. I was unsure of whether this was universal, as I've only been to the temple here in Perth, Australia.. Although I hope to one day see Salt Lake Temple (never thought I'd want to visit America until I joined this church). So then, I have another question for people here... Is your temple water blue? How blue?
  20. i dunno if there is oxygen in the water... and yeah i dont think the lighting is to blame... maybe some sort of cleaning agent??
  21. lol, i don't miss weekly sacrament meeting :) hehehe.... i have missed the lessons afterwards to see my mother. So unless some major tragedy occurs, yes, i'll be in attendance on the 1st of March... Fast Sunday!!! Don't forget your fast offerings!!
  22. Hi there, haven't been around in a while, but been so busy with church activities and such (been here like two months and already ive given a talk, done home teaching and got a calling as a ward missionary, not to mention all the other activites that take up every spare moment i get ). Anyways i was at temple last night (and again this morning), and I was looking at the water and it's very blue.. yet everything around is white (walls, roof, lights etc etc)... I tried asking a few people as an explanation as to why the temple water appears so blue. One lady I was asking (a fellow YSA from a different ward) said that her and her friends had only just noticed it too and was very curious about it, so I promised I'd find the answer out (so I'd like to find out before I go on YSAC next weekend, though I could probably tell her at institute). Discussions I had with people at temple ranged from maybe the bottom of the fountain was blue and it reflected up, but really even the surface (side walls) look blue so I dont think thats it, others said maybe it was a food dye, but we wondered why it doesnt stain the jumpsuits, I asked the brother at the reception desk who said it could be because the spectrum of artificial lights was blue (being an electrician he was sure of this ) but the lights look very white even yellow imho. So does anyone here know for sure, i mean, i know water isn't blue...
  23. grew up going to a Protestant Christian Church, but am now happily a Latter-Day Saint :) awesome!!
  24. well my personal belief is that evolution happened as Darwin says, but I believe that was God's will (God does work in mysterious ways, with more intelligence than we could ever understand), and he knew what the end result would be before he ever started, God created the heavens and the earth. Where my view differs from non-religious people is while I believe life evolved up to monkeys, it was God's will in a separate blessing to give that 'vessel' the human spirit, humanity was not chance, and whilst the rest of evolution is certainly observable as chance, God already knew the path evolution would take. I don't believe in the literal interpretation of Genesis, I believe the only reason for the '7 days' in Genesis was to emphasize how gravely important it is to keep the Sabbath day holy, I believe that is the lesson that God would like us to take away from that scripture as the argument for the origins of man and evolution brings absolutely no benefit to our lives no matter which view you have on the subject, whether you believe either extreme of the spectrum, the literal 7-day creation of the earth or that humanity was created by pure chance without the influence of God, neither gives you any lessons on life, nor teaches you how to live like a child of God. I think that if God thought that the answer to this question was important to our lives, He surely would've given a Prophet current or past a message to pass on to us.
  25. i agree with that, but comparing the caffeine content of Coke or coffee to that which is in chocolate, is like not drinking fruit juice because of the unavoidable alcohol content (as all fruit juice has an alcohol content). But I agree with other people who say its how you choose to live the WoW its not going to keep you from temple. :) you can make tea out of ginkgo, i beleive its the orignal use (dont quote me on that). it has nothing to do with caffiene but has simmilar effectsl.
