Yes, we believe in the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit. We are given no information about the Holy Ghost except that he is a personage of spirit and is one of the Godhead, comprising the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.

I've explained this before as we believe that everyone was created by Heavenly Father and thus His child, including Satan or Lucifer. However, when Lucifer rebelled and was cast out by God, Satan gave up his "right" to be called my brother or the brother of Jesus. He is our enemy as he wants to prevent us from coming to Jesus.

In a sense, but we believe in a premortal existence. We are all brothers and sisters. Jesus is our brother, Lucifer is our Brother, we are all children of God and thus brothers and sisters.

Lucifer fell in the preexistence and became the Devil, father of lies. It was my perception that many mainstream christians too believe that Satan fell from the presence of God in some fashion based on Isaiah 14:12

It appears that you are not familiar with LDS doctrine.  The short answer is that we all existed as spirits before mortality.  We are all children of God, and are brothers and sisters.

Satan lead a rebellion against Father, and he and his minions chose not to  receive a mortal body here on earth, but to remain as spirits.

He is just as real as you and I are real.

He is son of God, the son of the mourning, which fell due to rebellion.  He is just as real as you or I.  He is a spirit of the unjust, which can appear as an angel of light.  He is just as real as those who followed him and did not keep their first estate.

Roseslipper reacted to Traveler in Wolves, dressed as "truth seeking" sheep
The concept of wolves is sheep clothing comes from Matthew 7:15 This scripture is part of the sermon on the mount.  Jesus uses the symbolism of wolves and as the verses 15-20 clearly indicate who wolves are.  Note that in the example of Jesus he is talking about the sheep of his fold - in other words those that follow him or if you will - what is a Christian?

Jesus clearly says that real Christians are not to be determined by the doctrine they teach.  But rather by their intent in saying anything.  Jesus also compares fruit of trees - he says by their fruits you shall know them.  The intent of a wolf is the kill or hurt.  In other words the intent to criticize and cause the flock to scatter.  The result of a Christian is a witness of Christ and the fruit of repentance.  To bring together.

Being perfect, including being perfectly forgiving, is a lifelong process. Keep at it. Keep obeying the commandments. Keep repenting. Keep praying. Keep reading/studying scriptures. You'll get there eventually.

At the end of it all, what God is really asking us to do in this life is to try. And then, as Traveler has said, He has provided for us the Atonement so that when we fail we can succeed anyway, as long as we keep trying.

For those without callings, they can make their own "callings". Visit the shut ins. Go out with the missionaries. Do family history. Mow the lawns of the families they home teach. Share the gospel online. Volunteer to help the Scout troop.

It's scary because it may open up the conversation about church. I think you may be afraid she will say, "Well, I just can't be around Mormons right now."  Or something like that.

I think if you approach it in a loving, I-wanna-help kind of way, that might relieve any feelings from her that you want to talk church with her.

Also, this may just be a time to be patient and persistent with her. Allow her time to pull away, but keep trying to spend time with her even if she cancels.  Don't lose patience and get angry with her for that. She may need time away for other reasons that are not related to the church or you, for that matter.  Maybe send her a card or drop off a flower or something and just say, "Hey, I've missed our girl time! Let's get together soon and talk about Downton Abbey!"  Something like that done every once in a while will let her know you still love her and church has nothing to do with your feelings.

Eowyn, I'm going to assume that when you are with your family member that you don't discuss church or churchy things with  her.  If you have, then perhaps that is why she is pulling away? I would recommend that even if she brings up church or churchy things, to change the subject to something else.

If you haven't talked about church stuff, then have you asked her why she is cancelling things? I think approaching it as "Hey, is everything ok? You've cancelled the last few times we've tried to get together and I'm a little worried.  Have I done something to offend you or anything? Or do you have some stuff going on that I can help with? I miss you and would like to spend some time together even it is to help you clean the house or something."

Isn't this why God puts us in families... and into ward families... so that we have these types of support groups to help us through life.

do a search on the church page (lds.org) it comes up with about 7 references referring to cellphones and behavior during sacrament.  Good Luck and God Bless your talk.  just phrase it as use of cell phones during Sacrament.  Do the search from the scriptures page.

I am very pleased to have found this interesting website on the Church, which is managed by members of the Church. I am since 2008 a member of the church, and I have a testimony. I know that God lives and that Jesus is the Christ. I know that Joseph Smith Jr. was a true prophet of God, and Thomas Monson is a prophet of God. I know from the deepest part of my soul that the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ, and that Joseph Smith had it translated correctly. No matter what will always assert enemies of the Church, I have a testimony of the truth of the Church.

I would think RS would be more helpful in the grand scheme of things, versus YW, when it comes to a teen mother. Despite age group, you suddenly realise that being in a class with other wives and mothers might be more helpful, instead of with a group of high school kids that cannot relate to being a parent and raising a child.

My experience has been that once a youth has made adult choices they are treated as an adult in other ways too. Maybe if it is a convert or non-member things are different though.
