If everyone would like to fix "Global Warming" remember were are on an religious forum...How about the world start being more righteous... I know crazy to think that the main way the Lord has punished prideful and wicked nations in the past is by famine, pestilence, drought and other horrible seemingly naturally occurring disasters. At least they had the foresight to recognize that it was at the hand of God in response to their wickedness, apparently... we're not so bright.

It was briefly mentioned earlier on this thread but to many people were "looking past the mark" If there is a problem, which I don't think there is, I firmly believe it has to do with the affairs of the world. Could there be a more wicked, greedy, lustful people than those who currently inhabit the world? Yet we continue to believe that the creator of all things is trying to tell us that limiting our carbon foot print is why were here on this Earth? Come on:eek: Are we not familiar with the revelations concerning the signs that would precede the second coming of the Savior. Hello, we currently live in the time period designated by scripture as the time of the Millennium. We should be more concerned about keeping the commandments and the covenants we have made with him, and raising a righteous posterity. Ok, I may be setting my self up for a rebuke here but I just wanted to voice some frustration about the (Supposed) talk given by Elder Packer given in his home ward right after fall conference, and the recent talk he gave in a Herriman, UT stake. (See link below) 2 weeks ago we had a stake representative come out and basicly ridicule people who thought that Elder Packer actually gave a talk, and further more that anything significant was said in it, and that people needed to stop spreading false doctrine. Well, the last time I checked...Elder Packers office confirmed that he did speak at his ward on that day, but declined to mention specifically what he spoke about other than "he spoke". Now if I was in his ward, and I knew he attended and spoke ocassinaly I would go buy a recorder that I could keep in my pocket...just in case. And his comments were not that staggering, kind of what I would expect to hear from an Apostle during hard times. Now part 2 I just watched a video of a guy who attended stake meeting that said Elder Packer said we were headed for a depression. Now I'm not sure how that is any different than what he said in his first talk....given that were are in a "Catosprophe" right now. I guess it just irritates me when people try to dismiss what other people said they herd someone say..

I would disagree with the above statement, I don't believe that much of what we are doing right now is being dictated by the Constitution, but more of our circumstance and how GOVERNMENT thinks things could be resolved. Yes the constitution is hanging by a thread, when you have the chair of the FED discussing essentially the prospects of a world currency...the constitution is hanging by a thread. Moreover, I don't see any indication that we are going to recover from this recession, we are breaking records everyday. Have you seen the expansion of the money supply? Do you not see the riots taking place all over the world. If you look at the headlines of just today, you will see that this is not a mere recession, this will be a depression....AND THATS JUST THE ECONOMIC SIDE OF IT.....What if: 1. Another Katrina hits this year or next 2. Al Qaeda strikes this year or next 3. Major floods decimate Corn and Potato crops 4. Russia and Iran try to do something against Israel for the US 5. A major earthquake erupts 6. China decides to sell of the 1.5 Trillion of T-bills they are holding There are so many facets to this DEPRESSION, It is the perfect storm set up. Check this out You don't recover from this without first collapsing. Oops and I didn't even mention the spiritual aspect of the times that we live in. The 7000yr period where 3 things happen. 1. 25 to 30 year period at the opening of the 7000 yr period for cleansing the earth. 2. Christ returns 3. Millennium begins...Remember the Millennium is a 1000yrs...and were 9 yrs into that period.

Here is my take on this stuff, the church is not going to make everything doctrine that is written, however I don't think the church is calling him a lier. Do I think Joseph Smith had a conversation with this man about this topic...Yes, Do I think that everything in the "Prophecy" is true? No....but I have seen just about every major bank in the world fail.....no collapse. Sorry, I know that this is really…really late, but I just wanted to drop my 2 cents into this discussion I have to agree with the poster above when they talked about the timeline, this is what is really important, and what differentiates us from any other time, I know that people have always said, “Christ is coming” but right now it's different, we have entered into the 7th seal of time, or the 7000 yr period in the earth spiritual existence where 2 things happen: 1. The earth is prepared for the coming of the Savior, and by that I mean the wickedness is cleansed from the earth, through…War, Tsunami’s, earthquakes, Hurricanes, economic collapse, changing climates, plagues….do these sound familiar? Look at how many MAJOR events have taken place since the year 2000, which would be the opening of the 7th seal of time….I know. 2. The Millennium happens remember it is 1000yrs…which means we are living in the time period that we should be experiencing the Millennium. However, in the scriptures we are told that there is a 30 minuet time period ,“In the Lords time” which would be equilivant to about 20yrs our time, where the cleansing process takes place to prepare for the Lords return. Now listen, I’m not saying the Lord is coming in a year or even 10 yrs, but I don’t think 20 year is out of the question. I know the White Horse Prophecy is not official “Doctrine” but have you read it lately…sounds and awful lot like what it happening right now and what could be happening 5yrs from now. And I have many other quotes from the church archives that would blow you away about stuff that could be happening in 2 yrs from now. Now with the gospel being preached in every nation I don’t know, I don't know how we can preach the gospel in Iran, or any Arab nation without getting killed. I could not even teach them in New Zealand without my investigators getting killed, but a lot can happen in 10 yrs. If you listened to Elder Packer in the last general conference he made a comment that stuck with me he said that “The sun never sets on the Church” That is quite a statement. I think the good times are behind us and we are in for a very turbulent 10 to 15 yrs. This is when things get exciting. And if you have read up on ALL that has been said about the second coming you would be silly to expect MORE direct warnings would be coming from the leaders of the church. I think we have been warned, and now it's time to listen, and obey.
