  1. Dear richlittell, yes - german is my native language. I joined english lessons at school for six years. 1977 the missionaries found me and I enjoyed the opportunity to speak english with them as often as possible. I think there is no german version of the king James, because the King James seems to be a translation of the "Luther Bible". Unfortunately some german institutes (?) own the copyright of it. Therefore our church has no allowance to issue an own german version. That´s the reason why even our internet country side shows only BOM, D&C, PoGP and the scripture guide. When I joined the church I took a bible of the JW and cutted out the reference guide. It was useful for the beginning. Later on I received a "missionaries pal". Thereafter I bought the english King James Version published by the church in 1979 with the "Topical Guide" and "Bible Dictionary". When I was in SLC in 2002 and 2005 I bought the quad (thank you for your kind offer) for my daughter who is on mission at Temple Square since June 2008 (at the moment outbound at Mount Pleasant / Michigan). Since 2003 we use the triple with a scripture guide. This scripture guide is an extract from "Topical Guide and Bible Dictionary" I just conpared the scripture guide with the "Topical Guide" and the "Bible Dictionary". It includes the same scripture references but the comments are much shorter. BTW the wife (Jo Ping Wang) of my former bishop comes also from Taiwan. Maybe you know her. Have a nice day. Roland
  2. I did understand what you meant - in fact for a long time I used my german triple, my german bible and the english King James because of the topical guide. Due to copyright issues we don´t have a bible from our church. We have to use the ecumenical so called "Unification-Translation" although i would prefer the Luther-bible because it´s similar to the King James Bible. You are right when you say it would be fine to have more options. At the moment, as the bible is vetry thick and the triple with the topical guide is nearly as thick as the bible it suits for me and my bag. If I would have an option - I would prefer the quad. In german we have the stickers that we can glue into the scriptures, but the round cutted grips in the english version are much better, because the stickers are fissuring the pages.
  3. Be happy with your quad. Due to copyright reasons we don´t have it in german. We all would love to have it but we must take the Bible and the triple. The grass is always greener on the other side.
  4. Here an extract from Michael R. Ash´s book "Shaken Faith Syndrome": After the revelation of S.W. Kimball about the priesthood B.R. McConkie said: Forget all that I have said, or what B. Young had said - or whosoever had said what is contrary to the actual revelation. We have spoken with our limited understanding and without the light and cognition that came to earth now. Overaged and erring opinions are superseeded by revelation or an increased understanding....Without revelation the members and the leaders of the church are free to speculate. This is from fairwiki: Blacks and the priesthood - FAIRMormon Sometimes God withholds certain blessings from certain people without explaining why he does this. Sometimes this is a willful decision on his part expressed via direct revelation to his prophet. At other times, God allows his prophets to act as they feel best. In the case of the priesthood ban, we do not know which of these scenarios is applicable. What we do know, however, is that the ban was lifted by revelation in God's due time. Past church leaders should be viewed as products of their times, no more racist than most of their American and Christian peers (and often surprisingly enlightened, given the surrounding culture). A proper understanding of the process of revelation creates a more realistic expectations of the Latter-day Saint prophet, instead of assumptions of infallibility foisted on the Saints by their critics. Previous statements and scriptural interpretations that are no longer in harmony with current revelation should be discarded. We learn "line upon line, precept upon precept," and when modern revelation has shed new light, old assumptions made in the dark can be done away with.
  5. Balance is not the key. From Kerry Asay I learned that you must be focussed to do great things. Joseph Smith was focussed on James 1:5 and did it. Jesus was focussed on the fathers plan and he did it. The sun can induce fire if there is a glass that focusses the energy. In Germany we have the most missionaries in that wards that have the most investigators. We must send the missionaries to the countries that have the fastest growth. That part of missionary work is done properly by the church. The part that we have to think over is our own work in our ward and our family.
  6. I received this e-mail from Joe Greenhill. I like it. You Too? Kill WHO? You might have heard, or probably missed it in the rush of news, but there was actually a report that someone in Pakistan had published an offer of a reward in a newspaper to anyone who killed an American, any American So an Australian dentist wrote an editorial the following day to let everyone know what an American is . Making sure they know when they found one. (Good one, mate!!!!) "An American is British, Irish, French, or Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Czech, Polish, Russian or Greek. An American may also be Canadian, Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Australian, Iranian, Asian, or Arabian, or Pakistani or Afghan. An American may also be a Comanche, Cherokee, Osage, Blackfoot, Navaho, Apache, Seminole or one of the many other tribes known as native Americans. An American is Christian, or he could be Jewish, or Buddhist, or Muslim. In fact, there are more Muslims in America than in Afghanistan . The only difference is that in America they are free to worship as each of them chooses. An American is also free to believe in no religion. For that he will answer only to God, not to the government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for the government and for God. An American lives in the most prosperous land in the history of the world. The root of that prosperity can be found in the Declaration of Independence , which recognizes the God given right of each person to the pursuit of happiness. An American is generous. Americans have helped out just about every other nation in the world in their time of need, never asking a thing in return. When Afghanistan was over-run by the Soviet army 20 years ago, Americans came with arms and supplies to enable the people to win back their country! As of the morning of September 11, Americans had given more than any other nation to the poor in Afghanistan . Americans welcome the best of everything...the best products, the best books, the best music, the best food, the best services. But they also welcome the least. The national symbol of America , The Statue of Liberty , welcomes your tired and your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, the homeless, tempest tossed. These in fact are the people who built America . Some of them were working in the Twin Towers the morning of September 11, 2001 earning a better life for their families. It's been told that the World Trade Center victims were from at least 30 different countries, cultures, and first languages, including those that aided and abetted the terrorists. So you can try to kill an American if you must. Hitler did. So did General Tojo, and Stalin, and Mao Tse-Tung, and other blood-thirsty tyrants in the world. But, in doing so you would just be killing yourself. Because Americans are not a particular people from a particular place. They are the embodiment of the human spirit of freedom. Everyone who holds to that spirit, everywhere, is an American. Please keep this going! Pass this around the World ? Then pass it around again. It says it all, for all of us Please do not just delete. Pass it on first. Thanks!
  7. Sure - When we voted for the fathers plan of salavtion Jesus said that he would bring the atonement by giving his life and the glory should be Gods. Lucifer wanted to lead all of us back to our heavenly father and he claimed the glory for himself. That´s the reason why we all cose the fathers plan and all glory belongs to him.
  8. "Matthew 12:43-45 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first." If you only cast out an unclean spirit, it may return and may take the next opportunity when the relevant person has a weak situation. Therefore I ask them to repent and go to Christ. Once they went to Christ They´ll never return again. And this is not only for the unclean spirits it´s also for the spirits of the deceased.
  9. The missionaries are our best tool because they focus on the missionary work and they have the spirit with them in a special way - more than we common members have. Another side effect of the mission is the following: There is no better school for life than a mission - noone is as active as an returned missionry. I´d release all members from "alibi callings" and call as much as possible to be ward missionaries. All Acticities must be checked if they have a mission effect- and if so - use it. The quality of activities must increase so that i can invite friends. (I´m glad that i sometimes didn´t invite friends because the quality of the activity was bad.) Then create hometeachercouples with a ward member and a missionary. Then create a new class between seminary and institute with the subject: "Preparation for a mission" Then encourage the young members to fulfill a mission. More short - mission - activities. Revive the scout program and add another target behind "Eagle Scout": "Mission Scout". Everyone should prefer to marry a RM. As long as we followed three of the above points we had the best success in comparison with the stake.
  10. Yes! As the bishop has the gift of discerning of spirits he is the right person. The question is how to find out that there is an unclean spirit. When a person dosn´t realize this and the person dies - it may happen that the spirit even after the death still has the unclean spirit within himself (integrated). This person will not go to the paradise. The hidden unclean spirit urges to go into another person. The result is a person with another spirit inside that has another unclean spirit inside. You may know these russian matryoshka dolls. It´s the same principle.
  11. I have a friend who came to our church several times. He is a Master of Reiki and he helped many people to send their unclean spirits away. He was successful in many cases. After I teached him about our gospel and helped him to understand our relationship to our heavenly parents and the unclean spirits, he was successful in every case. In his case i can confirm it´s a question of faith in Christ and charity.
  12. Remember that the oil is consecrated: 3. States that he is acting by the authority of the Melchizedek Priesthood. 4. Consecrates the oil (not the container) and sets it apart for anointing and blessing the sick and afflicted. As the oil is consecrated also for the afflicted it is the right for the spirits.
  13. A friend had a fallen angel inside and after we found out and discovered him he began laughing at us mentioning that we wouldn´t have the power to command him, because he is on a higher level in Lucifers army. Finally we decided to give the friend a blessing and we asked if we should do it with oil or without. The friend became very nervous and said: "No! No Oil, No Oil" So we knew we should take the oil and then the friend began moaning until the oil touched the head. At that moment the friend was quiet and the spirit had gone. Another friend had more than a dozen of spirits inside and after four blessings there was still one spirit that didn´t leave. We discussed a while with the friend to find out who the spirit could be. It was the spirit of the mother who died many years ago. But as she was the mother she thaught to have the right to stay and to "play a kind of guardian angel". We gave a final belssing and told her that she should go to Christ - and she did.
  14. My english is not perfect - but I think I can agree in all points. As the most participants chose "Others – please comment" you are right. I should have devided it into more boxes - Sorry. When you have a look at the rituale romanum you see that there is a lot of aggression against the unclean spirits. I experienced that that is a difficult way. Considering that all of them are my sisters and brothers and we lived a long time with our heavenly parents, i´m obliged to share my love - as Jesus would do - and when I testify of Christs unlimited love they begin to feel the light of christ.
