  1. Do you see those waters know as the Gulf of Mexico? I've heard a legend that there lies the previous location of the City of Enoch.
  2. "In a nutshell, addiction and most sins are symptoms of being spiritually unconscious, which is the real problem." So true. Everytime you want to sin in your special addiction, just think of your Father in Heaven, Jesus Christ and then your family. It makes it a lot tougher to continue sinning.
  3. We use white vinegar, pour in a bowl full past the mineral line and let it sit for about an hour. It should wipe right off with no scrubbing needed. Our toilet is a seawater toilet so I don't know if this makes any difference. We use white vinegar to clean mold and mildew off of our wood too.
  4. " don't know what I was trying to say by that. I think that was a bit harsh of me. I think a better way to say it would be, "Keep striving to develop your faith!" and just leave it at that!" tomk Thanks tom. I have a great relationship with our Heavenly Father but I still have a lot of work to do.
  5. Tomk - what do you mean by this? "If you lack this faith right now, there may not be enough time to develop it" Rod
  6. iThis is exactly what I do. If I'm moved by the Spirit I give, if not, I don't give. Sometimes I carry change and small bills in a separate pocket so I don't have to break out my wallet and let them see my cash.
  7. It seems to me that the first thing you need to do is prove to yourself that God exists and then that Jesus Christ is his Son and then get to know them so that you have faith that They love you and that they can and will do what they say. For me it was a very long journey How can you build your faith? Paul tells us in Hebrews 11:1 1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. You must seek out the evidence of things not seen. Like building a case of circumstantial evidence in a court of law. The case will be built on the sum of circumstantial evidence not any single proof. You said in another post: "If the spiritual interacts with the earthly in any way, it should leave traces of it's activity. For instance, if Jesus himself were to show up in Tokyo, where there would be plenty of eyewitnesses to see it, that would leave proof." Well, this did happen, just not in Tokyo during your lifetime to the present. So you must search the history books for the historicity of Jesus Christ as well as evidence for the existence of the God that was his Father. Was there really a man named Jesus Christ that was born in Bethlehem, Judea, who preached that he was the Son of God and was crucified for his efforts? Was there really a man named Pontius Pilate who was the Procurator of Judea, during this time period? The questions to be asked are endless. Why are our calendars (Gregorian calendar) reset at the birth of Christ? Were there really Twelve Apostles? What happened to them? You also said: "If God gives someone information, and that person had no possible way to access that information on their own, then that's proof as well (I.E. the location of buried treasure). Well. I ask you, where did the modern day country of Israel come from? Why were all of those Jews sent to the ovens by Hitler's Germany? Where did the term "Jew" come from? What was the Jewish diaspora? Who were the Twelve Tribes of Israel? Why are Ten of them lost? Was there really a King Solomon, a King David who ruled over a country called Israel around 1000BC? Why was their country divided in to 2 parts? Was their really a King Nebuchadnezar of Babylon? Was their really a King Daruis the Mede? Who was Cyrus the Great? Who was the prophet Daniel? Who was the prophet Samuel? What is in the Dead Sea Scrolls? I tell you if you find the answers to these you will find buried treasure.
  8. I believe there is plenty of evidence, just no proof.
  9. I like having a gun in the house when we are in L.A. but we never have one onboard the boat when we are cruising. Our boat is our home so we never have one. The regulations vary too much from country to country and the reason we cruise is to get away from that type of situation. It depends on your experience wth weapons, your body size and possibly where you live as to what type. I'm a big guy with no kids in the house, I prefer the shortest legal 12 gauge shot gun with a pistol grip, loaded with slugs or 00 buck kept within reach of my bed. If you have no experience you really should find some one to teach you and shoot a few guns before you purchase. Once you purchase a gun you should fire it at the range as much as you need to, to be proficient and safe with it. Rod
  10. Thanks for the welcome!! Rod
  11. Hi, We just registered yesterday. My wife Patti and I are inactive members of the church. We were anchored in Pago Pago Harbor in our sailboat after leaving Los Angeles in 2006. We spent 2 years in Mexico before heading to the South Pacific. I can assure you we get close to our Father In Heaven while we are at sea in our little boat. Though we are inactive in the church we are active in our study of the scriptures. We have put our boat on the hard and returned to the Los Angeles area to be with Patti's parents during their last days. We were converts to the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints in 1982 in our late 20's. We grew up in Southern California. We fully believe in the Church, we just haven't been valiant in keeping the Word of Wisdom. Never the less, we look forward to the return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I am happy to find you all and this website, please bear with me as I learn how to use it. Rod
