  1. I had a rather wordy response- however I realized that you may be asking something different than my "soliloquy." Do you mean the pagans before Christ's time? or rather the "righteous unlearned" who die before receiving the sacrament of baptism?
  2. Yes! It is a fun site with many kind people... Although Jamie, I'm a little freaked out by your Avy reminds me of that Stephen King movie...
  3. Good luck! :) we are both fortunate to be so close to Hill Cumorah... I hope that helps you!
  4. HEP- Ventis secundis, tene cursum. Spero nos familiares mansuros?- h2001st^_^
  5. interesting. well... "when in Rome"... I suppose....
  6. well I wasn't looking for an exact number- but I'm sure all churches do keep track. Whether it's published or not is another story. It seems all churches do a good job noting status (active, inactive/disfellowed, excom, annulments, remarriages, statistical difference between those married temporally or sealed etc.) ...but that's for another thread:).
  7. does anyone know (roughly) the percentage of those disfellowed vs. excommunicated in your church? then what is the percentage of those who want to return to an "active" status?
  8. Welcome! I studied in Germany some years back and LOVED it there!Even got used to the dialect:cool:If I can help with German language questions- let me know:)
  9. Nor am I (a member)- and I completely agree with Jim108. Maybe a good exercise, danz, would be to "surf" by a Catholic forum like this and read how they treat non-members. It's certainly an eye-opener (and a little embarassing, frankly:eek:). And although a few do not represent the whole, the level of anger is abundant.
  10. LOL- very true! After all if He could will the Red Soxs winning the Series some years back... anything is possible
  11. Palerider- as a Non-member, you have to understand we hear tons of media information from LDS, RLDS, FLDS, Church of Christ etc. and don't know the difference between these factions. I'm assuming x-girl was asking about Brigham Young's views in contrast to "mainstream" LDS views? :)
  12. Well I can't speak as a convert- but I can speak of having two different Christian denominations in my family, incl. my husband. So- it seems that your mother's response is more toward "not wanting you to break tradition." (and fear that stems from the unknown). However, both are temporal when she sees your happiness. :)
  13. oh of course- Lewis' views on eternal progression... I mean... eternal life.
  14. Conversely, in the Jesuit educational field, David McKay is HIGHLY respected and regarded.
