  1. Haha - I know, I know. I am asking this because I don't want to be the one "going off the reservation..." I looked at lds.org, but search "Atonement" and you will get a thousand results... I haven't had much time yet, but I suppose I need to go a refine my search and narrow it down. For some reason, whenever I searched any of the terms I mentioned in the OP - it never gave me talks that matched my search, other than the words "the" (which I just excluded in my search) and the word "atonement" which lead to a shot gun of topics and talks. Any particular talks come to mind to anyone?
  2. Hi Everyone, I have been asked to give a talk at church and I've been having a hard time coming up with a topic (open topics are difficult!). So I was thinking about giving a talk about different ways of looks at the Atonement. I have heard different titles referring to the Atonement that describe a different attribue about it, such as "The Infinite Atonement" or the "Repeating Atonement", "Continuous Atonement" and so forth. I just wanted to ask you all for help - are these titles doctrinal? And if yes, where can I find more titles? Where can I find more information on such titles? Your answers will be appreciated!
  3. Elijah and Moses were translated in order to confer their Priesthood keys (also through laying on of hands) at the Mount of Transfiguration to Peter, James, and John show that it was necessary that they had their bodies. We also know that the resurrected Peter and James, along with a translated John came to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery to confer the Melchizedek Priesthood upon them - also having physical bodies. What I am getting at is that if a physical body was necessary to perform those ordinances, that would imply that a pre-mortal Christ, who had not yet received a body, would not have been able to perform the ordinance. Reading the Bible Dictionary (I should have gone there first) under Melchizedek Priesthood says that Adam was ordained in the pre-mortality. I suppose when you take into consideration that the Priesthood has no begining, or no end of days, the process of acquiring a mortal body for Adam did not negate the Priesthood that he had been ordained to in the pre-mortality. I don't plan on teaching this in such a deep level. I was kind of just interested in finding out for myself.
  4. Not only that, but just because his work was done, it doesn't mean he gets to exaltation free from responsibility. He still needs to repent of his sins, and accept the ordinances that were made in the temple in his behalf. So really, he still has a long way to go. Fortunately, God is the Judge.
  5. Hey fellas, I am to prepare a lesson for this coming sunday on the Priesthood focusing on its history - things like how it was organized in past dispensations, the restauration of the Priesthood keys, and its organization. As I medidate on the information I want to share, my thoughts are drawn to Adam and his priesthood. Even if he was the first man, he had to be ordained to the Priesthood in the same way everyone else - by the laying on of hands. Does anyone have any idea of how this must have happened with him? I look forward to reading your comments!
  6. I only asked for help in this site because I figured i would get a litle more help! I had been reading up on several different talks I had found already on my own on the search database you just gave me. Thanks, but I'd like something a lilte more specific :)
  7. hey guys!~ I've been asked to teach a lesson two weeks from now at my Elder's Quorum. The subject is on the Temple and Priesthood holders. Its a very broad topic and there are so many ways for me to go on about it. I'm just wondering if there are any good talks by any GA that you may know that deals with both topics on the same talk. I'm thinking that something like - how can priesthood holders prepare for the temple, or something along those lines would be really good. Or if anyone has any suggestions or ideas, I'm open to hearing them! Thanks eveyrone. Have a fantastic day!~
  8. yeah, but he has such a good voice.... I know Mindy. I used ot lissen to her in my mission. She is preatty!
  9. you should check out Sufjan Stevens. He is an american singer-songwriter. He is incredible when it comes to that kind of stuff. He uses a large array of instruments. He tends to lean more towards folk music, but he is incredibly great. I'm sure wyou would find something good about him.
  10. yeah, I do!!! For sure.... You should check out Amiina. They are an Islandic minimalistic intrumental band. If you know Sigur Ros, Amiina did the string arrangements for two or three of their albums. They are great! They make this really neat music in some pretty inconventional ways. They music has some very childlike innocence and its pretty magical. I highly recommend it. Check out their website at Amiina and their myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/amiina I think I may have a different idea of instrumental music than you though. What kind of instrumental music? Do you mean like classical music? Orchestral music? rock/post rock with instrumental influences??? if you explain to me, I can narrow things down for you - although if you are looking for classical or orchestral, I'm pretty weak on the subject X_x
  11. hahahaha... I'm sorry, I seem to suffer from mild retardation... Vine and Willow
  12. hey guys! I just wanted to share a link to a music blog I have been writing. Its been fun! But I'm trying to get more people to check it out. Its a music blog for anyone and everyone with 'user-friendly' descriptions of the bands. Its kind a few months old, but check it out, and feel free to comment on it. My idea is to expose people to cool music that gets unnoticed. So take a look at it, and if you know anyone who would like it, pass the link to them! Ok? Also, we can use this thread to discuss music in general. What has everyone been listening to?
  13. I believe that since we were never equal to begin with, that perfection will vary from person to person. I dont have anything to back that up with, other than we all have different personalities now and will be raised with them just the same. But I also feel that since there are different attributes that we all have that are stronger in our personality, than with other people, that perfection will be the best you that you can be - and still remain you. Just a polished version of it.
  14. ok, Pres. Eyring's voice is always cracking with emotion in his conference addresses.. I think its totally cool. I cry all the time. Well... not ALL the time... but, you know.
  15. How interesting. I had never heard of the story of Lucifer contending with the Prophet Joseph.. what is that all about?
