  1. Wow, Japan! That's going to be awesome! Enjoy your extra long stay at the MTC! :)
  2. I can tell you from experience, baptizing a Jehovah's witnesses and watching him learn the truth is amazing. This one man in particular had the missionary fire the day he was baptized. He was ready to run the streets and tell everyone why they were wrong and the LDS church was right. Of course, we had to help him realize we didn't use all the same 'methods' to share the gospel as he was use to.
  3. I personally met 2 sisters on my mission who were both serving their 2nd missions. They were from southern Italy serving up north. Seems like the church had no problem letting them serve multiple missions. The mission certainly needed all the natives they could get!
  4. We are almost done with the snow! We just bought a new house and I'm ready for some BBQ's!
  5. Just be patient! What skippy740 said makes sense. Everything happens for a reason! How's this for timing: My aunt who lives in Italy (where I also served my mission) babysat my first MTC companion when he was a baby and lived in Italy. His family was there just a short time for business and our families never never kept in touch after that. He grew up in NY and I'm from AZ. We didn't discover this connection until later on my mission. What were the chances that he of all people would be my first companion :)
  6. Thats great! So is there any area you're hoping to go to? South America? Europe? USA? I wanted to go to Italy and serve in Milano and I somehow got what I wanted! :)
  7. Actually the site is something you would create for your son. Since they usually only have permission to check email he can send letters and photos to you and you can write newsletters for friends and family to read about him. We are working on a feature to let the missionary email their page directly so that letters and photo attachments will automatically show up.
  8. I'm excited to be part of this community. A little bit about myself... My wife and I grew up in Arizona but we now live in Utah and we hate the snow. :) I'm a software engineer and love finding ways to use the latest technology to spread the gospel! My username comes from a site I run called OnMyMission.com - LDS Missionary Profiles which just launched not too long ago. Suggestions are always welcome.
  9. I definitely agree with the journal suggestion. I started writing in mine a few days before I left on my mission and I love reading those first few days still today. Its interesting to read about how I felt about leaving my friends and not knowing what a mission was going to be like.
