West Jordan, looks I'll be changing districts yet again (eventually.)  I'll guess the location south of 7000 S and West of 5600 W.  Most likely west of Mountain View Corridor.

If that's where it goes my sister and her ward will be changing then as well. They live off of 6200 So. and wayyyyy west.

I will predict at least two in places I did not know there was even a ward there and one in a place I did not know even existed.

In my youth I could name all the temples – but back then there were only 12 and the year I graduated from high school they dedicated the 13th.   I set a goal to visit al the temples.  Currently I can’t even tell you all the temples in Utah.  I am starting to take all the temples for granted.  The wife and went to our assigned temple forgetting that it was closed for a week of deep cleaning.  So we just went to another temple.  We ended up finding out there 4 temples were closed for something before we found one (all within less than an hour drive of our home) was open.  Now days that problem is solved because we make appointments.   At the most recent Roots Tec I learned that on the Family Tree app I can find the name(s) of the closest relation to take to the temple.

I am guessing that we will be told that the Kirtland temple will soon be restored and rededicated.  I would like to be there for that.

The Church already announced the Kirtland temple will remain as is and open to the public. They are allowing Community of Christ to still use it for some of their needs.

This is a good forum for any "Mormons seem weird" topics you may have as well.   It's possible that your spiritual experiences may lead you to conclude that the CoJCoLDS is Christ's church, and where you should be.  If that's the result, there can be a little culture shock, because our church is more than a church, it's a lifestyle.  And there are some interesting cultural oddities that come with the lifestyle.  Some we can explain doctrinally, others we tend to be embarrassed by. :D

@DeseretdogSince you are investigating you might not be familiar with acronyms.  CoJCoLDS is: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

If it might interest anyone, this short (3 minute) video features Apostle Lachlan Mackay of Community of Christ sharing his feelings regarding this transaction.

I'm not sure why this seems important to me. Maybe just to remind us that, while our branch of the Restoration is celebrating today, another branch of the Restoration is probably experiencing some mixed emotions.

I think that's why the Church is being very selective in what they say and how they say it. They realize that this is a sad time for those of the CoC.

  6. I just read your answer about changes to the endowment and I found it helpful. Thank you. However, how do you explain the elimination of the execution of the penalties? Those were not instructions, rather, they were part of the ordinance. When I hear the explanation of the recent changes, my memory of the pre-1990 endowment trouble me.

  7. Is it wrong to look up the words to the temple endowment online when I can’t make it to the temple and I want to study the temple wording in depth? We’re not allowed to have a pencil and paper during an endowment session. I always have so many insights and forget them by the time I leave the temple. So I tried looking at an unbiased site with the endowment wording (omitting the parts that were not supposed to talk of) but my husband said that was very wrong and I was trifling with sacred things.

  8. Hey gramps!

I read about how only Jesus life was the only acceptable currency to pay off our sin and not us. And that we have no valid currency in heaven to pay off our sin. But why didn’t we have any acceptable currency to pay off our sins? Was it because we are sinners? Or something else?
