  1. I have two trains of thought on this matter: 1; Part of my position in my company is to recruit new talent and I have to say being in AZ, one of the things that cross my plate is are they bilingual because it doesnt matter if they can walk to a location I cannot place non spanish speakers in some locations mainly as it it does not serve the customer base and two because the employee cant make money. 2; I am not a citizen, I am eligable for citizenship but have respectfully declined. This is because I am very proud of who I am and would ask no less of an American. However I am here legally as a permant resident and follow all the rules and regulations that are put before me. Illegal immigration upsets me as I had to jump a lot of hoops to be a legal resident and in a way it puts what me and my husband did down as we worked hard to be together legally. So my point is, it irrates me to see a nation catering to individuals that have not taken the path the legally enter the country and make reasonable efforts to become intergrated with society. I believe that the immigration process is tough but it should be its there for a reason. I just think the borders should be more secure and the punishments for breaking laws while here illegally should be stronger.
  2. I have a very beautiful daughter dog...I call her my daughter because she acts more human than a dog. She is a 1 year old sharpie/pit bull mix in black with one white marking on her front called Daisy. Everyone told me I was crazy as Pits are mean nasty horrible creatures and I send then as I say now, its not the dog its how the owner expects it to ask. But if she has a bad dream she crawls into my bed inbetween me and my husband till shes at the top with her head on the pillow and the rest of her covered just like a child. She hugs by putting her front legs on your shoulder and rest her head at your neck, if she hears you cry or yell out she immediately tries to hug you. (Expect for my husband, she looks at him like hes a wuss.) She watches TV with us and likes music. She plays soccer and football with the kids in the park, only thing is we have to convince her to drop the ball. She's even scared of the dark, but we have learned that this is no longer a problem as she now knows that the lamp in the spare bedroom is a touch light and she has been known to turn it on. If we leave her alone she will also turn on the TV. Doesnt matter what channel, so we have learnt to leave the remote on the couch. But the funniest thing that happens with her which is just like a child is, if she doesnt like what one of us says she goes to the other. For example she had an allergic reaction 2 weeks ago and her mouth became swollen. Michael petted her and told her she was going to be OK, she let him fix her with the medicine and then came and crawled into my lap and cried. It was just like Daddy fix me, now Mommy I NEED YOU! MIchael just laughed for hours as my legs fell asleep. She really is adorable, sleeps in(yes in) a bed, sits like a human on the couch and likes soda pops. (we live in AZ so one day thats all Michael had so he gave her some out walking, for a week she deliberately knocked over cans and glasses to get more). She knows what Dairy Queen is and every staff member knows her by name there and she more than hangs out of the window when we get there and will get in the car just to go. Pets Im not keen on (sorry MrsS) cats, their too independant and I would worry too much about them if they went outside and they arent that cuddly. My snake was more cuddly than my Grans cat.
  3. You see, mine is a little different. I manage a retail store for a large corporation and each year my family get gifts from my store. I dont have time to leave the store between November 1st and January1st. Plus I see all the sales before anyone else and tend to spend the money before we open the day after ThanksGiving. The other reason, being in retail you see the other side and I dont want to be involved. Kids screaming for what they want, people snatching grabbing and knocking people over. I have even seen people barter with each other so they can get the last one. ITS SCARY.
  4. actually heather if you drink to much water at one time it causes your brain to swell and can actually kill you, i remembering hearing about some kid who drank to much water and it killed him this summer.... you could probley find a negitive for jsut about anything There are also other medical reports of drinking too much water and flushing your system of necessary balances such as hormonal and anti toxins. 8-12 glasses is the max recommended for regular climates (75 degrees) add 1 glass for each 10 degrees. (So says my husband whos doing his pre med(animal, but is also learning human biology), but hes not always right)
  5. my husband and I were invited to our first counselors house to watch theconference. The funny thing is, I got the love one another theme from it. That is the most important part to me. We were both inactive and now I am more active but he was not. he asked our hosts if they had set him up as he got the "get less active members active again" theme. Personally I believe that everyones view will be different as the spirit will bring our attention to the themes that we need in our life aat that time
  6. Brother Dorsey's posts at the start summed it up Three personages have the power to influence. 1 = holy ghost (as commanded by God) 2 = Jesus Christ (with respect to God) 3 = Heavenly father (GOD) Each seperate but all lead by one.
  7. ALMon, you are an example and I agree with Begood your heart definately shows. I feel guilty right now because part of me hopes that today is telling the truth, even though that means that its not a good life for her right now, but that theres chance for improvement. The other part of me hopes its a hoax because I cant bear anyone being in that situation.
  8. I would agree that there are no physical limits, but my theory is that each limit is to the individual. Your example is to bench press 400lb, this is beyond your ability now, but if you trained and worked up to it, would it be beyond your limit? SO is it against your limits, or against the limits you choose?
  9. Sharyll, You are right to research and look into it. One thing I would recommend is when you are reading/researching trust your gut. I wish you and your husband the best and I hope that you will be happy in your choice and that everything will work out just fine.
  10. I had a bishop some time back who explained it to me this way They said no tobbacco, now it kills they said no strong drinks, now it kills and kills innocence they said no drugs/narcotics, now it kills they said no hot drinks, now theres stomach ulcers They gave us a healthy eating plan, now theres obseity. Who else but God knew this? If you follow the Word of Wisdom you will be healthy and live a long and happy life. When I asked about soda, he told me its not against the rules, I dont drink it out of choice but the headaches stopped when I gave it up. Myself I learnt this the hard way My grandad and uncle died from lung cancer, my cousin died from drugs, my friend has an ulcer which his doctor said came directly from coffee, I had a drink problem. It made me miserable, uncaring about the world and the best day of my life was not so long ago when I poured every last drop down the drain, now I sleep better, have lost 12lbs, am alert longer and actually have fun at work and at home. The things we are warned against are addictive and to be controlled by something is powerful. I know I only want to be controlled by myself. So are the Words of Wisdom words of God. Yes, because as time evolved we learnt the dangers of all we were warned against.
  11. I believe Heavenly Father listens and answers every prayer, however I believe that when we dont like the answer we dont believe he has answered. An analagy Daddy can I have $10? No. Then you dont love me anymore. How many have had a child or even a grown friend turn on you when they dont get what they want, and say youre not a good parent/friend. Isnt that the case when we pray and we dont get what we want the way we want it, then he's not a good God and he didnt care enough to answer the prayer. Sometimes the hardest answer is no.
  12. I'VE DONE THAT BEFORE! (but with skipping rope). MUAHAHAHAHA! Can beat you, my husband and brother did it to their sister then put her in the dryer. (mom caught them before they turned it on)
  13. My thoughts are that our natures do contain our limits. That our limits even though we think we cant go past them, really we cant step outside the boundaries of our nature and that in deed is our true limit
  14. To me it makes sense that as we have our limitations and boundaries so would God. Just his are larger than ours. This is logical as we are made in his image and by him wouldnt we have a degree of similarity? If so do we have our limitations and do we have ways to exceed those limitations with growth? If you can answer yes to these questions then the answer would be, nothing is impossible within the limitations and growth ability of God. (To be honest that limitation is beyond our true capability of understanding so without delving into the philisophical impact of a question then it can be concieved as nothing falling short of possible.)
  15. Thansk for sharing, I really liked some of these images and look forward to helping my neices and nephews use them to make cards and over little things.
  16. even if today is a fake or not, I truly hope one point got across. That is that the LDS church and other religious organizations (Shantress) understand and are sympathetic when there is someone in need. so today if your plight is as you say, as I hope you arent toying with people here, please you have been given some great advice. Take heed of it and act. If you are lying and toying with feelings and emotions just stop because you may ruin it for someone really in need. Im sure youve heard of the boy who cried wolf.
  17. some other suggestions for duct tape. rope( braid it and its stronger than most rope) good to kidnap younger siblings belt hold up stockings keeping the skimmer on the pole for the pool patch a boat make cups for drinking water hemming pants in a hurry finger straps for boxing or broken fingers
  18. there is a program called etomi pro...its a one time $12 or something membership and you can get any kind of music from anywhere in the world. Any kind and any piece you just need to know what you want, artist, title, album or genre.
  19. "Benedict cited an obscure Medieval text that characterizes some of the teachings of Islam's founder as "evil and inhuman" — comments some experts took as a signal that the Vatican was staking a more demanding stance for its dealings with the Muslim world." It was a comment that may or may not have been taken out of context. Sometimes I wish that everyone would allow anyone to worship in the way that they choose instead of picking it apart.
  20. this thread was a great conversation piece over dinner tonight and I learnt something about my brother in law. When his kids were babies he used duct tape to tape the diapers to them as they wriggled so much the diaper wouldnt stay on.
  21. too true, my husband has a company "Redneck Installations" the slogan is "for when JB Weld and Duct Tape just wont work". Hes used it weatherproof windows, fix leaky pipes, tape cables to the carpet so people dont trip, tape tarp to a leaky rook, tape a rip in a trash bag before it falls open. This is just some of his favorite
  22. Why does religion really affect the choice. I though that the constitution had a separation of church and state. looking at the guys credentials though. He could do it as he has a firm grasp on business and running the country has a lot of that. He knows how to make growth both financial and fundamental and he may be the person to take the USA to the next level.
  23. maureen, it could also be a long distance relationship to the grandparents. The doctrine explains the knowledge of other but not the teachings. How often has a new mom said, no offense mom but this is my kid.
  24. its the way the missionaries explained it to me. Because even with trying other faiths I was taught if you dont believ you go to hell. This made sense to me because if you didnt have the knowledge it was a get out of jail fre card. sheol=spirit prision the stage between heaven and hell.
  25. depends on how you look at it Dr.T, but in some respects yes it could be, but even the most rebellious child still looks at their parents in awe. Especially when thy have their own kids. Kinda how did they handle it.
