Yes, my husband has mowed on Sunday's on a few occasions. I have seen members who have said they were not going out. I just hope they don't look down at us for our decision. Our ward this year is having our Halloween Celebration the Friday before so I am sure that next year they will do it on Saturday. We live in a neighborhood filled with kids and very active so it's really great when we all participate. Thanks for your insight. :)

Anyone can attend a Sunday service, member or not. You would just need to check the times in your area. Some start early, some later. If you decide to go, let me know how it was.

Ouch, I am guilty of starting a few of those threads. Yes, as an adult convert to the church there was many things I was not sure of and "praying about it" was not something that came easily to me and my husband. I had no idea of "Mormon Culture." I thought everything I heard was a rule...written in stone and that has not been the case. Perfect example is the "sabbath day posting" I put up today. I just don't know and wanted to get some thoughts. So, for those that are long-time church members please be patient with us "newbies" try to understand where we are coming from.

If only all the world could be like Utah and make it so easy :) It's our favorite holiday so i am sure we'll be out there. Thanks again!

Great...thanks so much! It's always a challenge to know what we can/can't do and sometimes I feel out of place if I do things differently than some of the others. I appreciate the comments.

I have (3) actually. They all have special meaning to me. They were all done before I was a member. The first one was when I went through a divorce, I just wanted to do something I knew he wouldn't like. Yes, not the best reason - I agree 100%. The next one I got was a ying/yang symbol encircled by the sun. To me it represented the balance of good and bad that I have within me at all times and to try and focus on the good. The final one is Japanese writing that reprents "Forgiveness." This was something that I thought was an important reminder to me everyday. It was a reminder that I needed to be willing to forgive myself, as well as those in my past that caused much pain and lastly for those I will encounter in my future. They all have meaning and I wouldn't change them.

Okay, so I have a question about activities on the Sabbath Day. Some friends of mine were talking about how bummed they were that Halloween falls on a Sunday next year and the kids would miss it. I didn't really understand, but rather than ask at that moment I just left the comment alone. So my question is this, "If Christmas falls on a Sunday are the kids not allowed to open gifts?" This is a genuine question because I see some members do different things on the Sabbath Day. Is there something somewhere that says we can't celebrate a holiday if it falls on a Sunday? Thank you in advance for your replies.

Help me if I misunderstood this statement. Are you saying that only people that are 1) baptized;living according to the gospel and 2) in a sealed marriage can go to the celestial kingdom? I've only been a member for 2 years so I am learning new things all the time. I just want to make sure I didn't misundertand what you had said. Thanks!

I find it hard to understand why BOLD and LARGER font would bother someone that much?!?! I mean really...to get so wigged out over something so minute is trivial!

Nothing as long as I can have a "bunch of husbands." Let's here some of the men who are absolutely comfortable sharing their wives with 2 or 3 other men. I haven't seen one post yet that is quick to say they would be okay with it. Just statements of, "what so wrong with having a bunch of wives." I'd love to see someone think of it the other way around and give an honest comment about that. I also think that the women of the Old Testament were probably pretty resentful about having to share their husbands. Even if at that time it was thought to be God's will. I'm still not convinced it was.
