  1. Outshined, May God keep you and yours safe and close as you are departed from one another. May God bless your troop with strength, courage and vigilence to your mission. God bless you my brother!!!
  2. Why watch TV any way. There are more important and more meaningful ways time can be spent other than watching the Boob Tube.
  3. I have been racking my brain trying to thnk of something unique and fun for my husband for Father's Day and I finally think I found something. I was thinking of getting us a tour of part of Alaska on an ATV. I thought my husband would really like that since we don't have ATV's and it would give us a chance to see part of Alaska. What do you think and what are you ideas on what you are giving your husband???
  4. While my church still owns the name Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints legally, we officially changed the name to Community of Christ. But the rest of it, you got right, Emma!!!
  5. Yes, Emma, he was baptized and became an elder. He became a missionary for the Texas area and worked very closely with Joseph Smith III in helping to buy the land that is now our Graceland College in Iowa. His journal has been transcribed. I just have a copy of it. The original is held in the Temple in Independence, MO. in the library. I have gotten to see it once. It was really cool. BTW, I am a "Jospehite" too. :-)
  6. Ok, ok, ok, Emma! :-) I dug it out of my hope chest. The year was 1868 and here are his words: "So when March came, I went up to Salt Lake City to be at the April conference and, also, to receive my second anointing and endowment. I understood this second endowment would give me more power and I could fight the Devil with more force and power. So the time came, and I entered the endowment room for my second anointing. Brigham authorized Erastus Snow to officiate in this ordinance of second anointing, and told him to call upon those to assist who were getting their anointings and endowments. This day's labor was a day long to be remembered by me, and the thought I was worthy to be officiate in so great an endowment as the second considered, I thought was double the honor conferred upon me." Now skipping... This summer I concluded to take Erastus Snow's advice and make an effort to add my family another wife. I was acquainted with a girl in Mountain Meadows and I thought if my wife could possible live in peace with any woman on earth, and divide time with her, she could live with this one. But I wanted her satisfied by all means.... (snip) I could see at onece it would be a great trial for my wife, and to tell you the truth, it was also a trial for me; but we determined for exaltation; but my heart failed with I got ready for the trip. (snip) I went over to the Meadows and we mutually agreed to dissolve the contract between us. (snip) Erastus Snow heard of my decision not to remain with the kingdom and to seek out Jospehites. At this, he was not amused and gave me a rebuke I shall not forget. I was given three hours to leave and to not return to the kingdom. When coming back to my homestead I had saw that it had been torched, and there was little to gather from it. ============================================ That is all my poor fingers can type write now... Hope you enhoyed it.
  7. I will post something and I do not mean it to be controversial, but it is what it is. I have stated on here before that my great, great grandfather went West with Brigham Young and became one of the inner circle with BY. BY told me GGGF if he wanted a "second endowment" he had to take a second wife. John Hawley (my GGGF) prayed about it and to his own conviction felt tha tit was wrong and was not of the Lord. So, he resigned from the LDS. By the time he got back to his homestead it had been torched with a possey looking for him to hang him. He hid out for three weeks before he could get his wife and they snuck east with a posse following him for a month until they found some Jospehites. This was all recorded in my GGGF journal which I have buried somewhere in my house. Who ordered what happened to him? My GGGF writes it could only come from BY.
  8. Kutless is my favorite Christian rock band. They are hard enough where it makes me forget they are Christian, yet their lyrics are so powerful it is hard to forget they are one.

  12. I don't pay for special ring tones, just use the ones installed with the phone. From my husband I use a "salsa" ringtone to remind me of the salsa dance lessons we took on a cruise ship last year... that was a blast.
  13. My mom said once that she had a very real dream about him and that he approached her. She said he was the best looking man she had ever seen -- could hardly take her eyes off of him. Said that his voice was the most kindest voice, but she said while his eyes were beautiful they were also hollow. That image has always stuck with me.
  14. I tapped birch trees this year and made some syrup. Sure is good stuff... a lot better than maple. Oh let them secede... I will send everyone birch syrup!!!
  15. Crazy, indeed. Poor lady.
  16. I have never understood the point of NASCAR other than it is a bunch of men who want their ego's stroked for going in circles. Nope, makes no sense to me at all.

  21. Hey Marsha, No. My husband was not present so we sat outside on the front deck. :-)
  22. Do yall remember those 2 missionaries that were scheduled to come by my home and we were to chat about our faiths and they never showed up??? (They did call 3 hours later to say why they couldn't.) Anywho... they stopped by this afternoon and I decided to go ahead and chat with them for a while. Boy, the lead missionary asked me about 20 questions about my church and I answered each one. Then we all shared our common interests and beliefs and then our differences. We ended up on the historical part discussing Nauvoo, Carthage and Kirtland Temple. It was overall a pleasant discussion. I was pleased with the both of them. Just wanted yall to know how it all ended.
