  1. I am kind of in a similar position. I was baptized then I was 21. When researching the Church I was shocked to see how much my family was against it. We were not raised with any religion so I figured they would not be against any, but they were. Anyways, I got baptized when I was 21 when I went into the army as I could not do it at home. Anyways, I actually moved around A LOT while I was in the army so I attended Church when I could but that was about it. Now that I'm back in my home city I am wanting to get into the priesthood and talked to my Bishop about it and he said it would come in time, just keep attending Church and I am keeping the commandments, now I am not perfect, no one is, but i think I rarely slip up. Of course my main issue now is attending Church, my work has me work almost every Sunday, it's been 3 weeks since I got to to, Luckily I get to go this sunday as they made the schedule and released it and forgot to put me down on it for Sunday, so they asked me if I would and of course turned it now. So I hope it will come soon for me, the main issue is work though, and getting that time off, they know how extremely important it is to me but that does not seem to make much of a difference. Also deciding which ward to go to! I sometimes go to the regular ward up the street, other times the singles ward, I am wondering if I should stick to one or not and if that might help?
  2. Haha, yeah, I like it a lot although it kind of sucks walking down the street and smelling pot most of the time, oh well, part of living in OB I guess
  3. Ocean beach. Born and raised in the area, have an apartment with my brother
  4. Yeah I love San Diego! After I was in the army I moved to Phoenix, AZ for a short while but had to come back to SD, missed the city and my chargers! Although it does cost a lot to live out here though, tough with working and school but its working out alright, I got 100% on my last Italian test so it's all working out ok, although another test tomorrow, lol, I doubt I'll get 100% again but an A works, hah, we'll see.
  5. Thanks everyone some good points made! And Yes I was talking about parents, brothers, etc. I am not married and no kids, and no I don't live at home anymore, we are all close though, myself and my twin brother are roommates and my parents, aunt, uncles, grandparents all live within 1 1/2 miles of each other and most of the rest of my family is in San Diego as well so we see each other very often.
  6. Hi! So what's going on is I converted back when I was, I think 18 or 19 years old, I talked to the missionaries, I searched them out, not them finding me, lol, after doing a lot of research of many different religions online, decided this one looked to be the best for me. Anyways, converted, went to church several times, than got baptised, continued to attend through a decent part of my time in the military, anyways, to keep this short, I am out of the military, have been for a few years, live back home in San Diego. An issue from the start and is still an issue is my family is NOT ok with myself converting to mormon, now we were never raised with a religion or went to church so it's not like I am going against some family tradition or anything. Anyways, I am clearly old enough to make my own decisions, I have not been to church in years and want to go back real bad but no matter how much I talk to my family about it they are really against the idea and send a lot of anger at me about it. So any advice on how to handle that would be great... Thanks!
