  1. I totally agree, this is why I thought this would be a great place post this information. I am not selling anything, a friend of mine set this up to make it as easy as possible to start browsing the internet safely. I do have one question, am I allowed to post the link to cleanvisit.com directly in this thread or can it only be contained in my signature. You can check it out for yourself, it is a basic Google-powered search engine with advanced proprietary technology that filters sexually explicit content. Let me know what you guys think, I am open to feedback and I want the whole world to hear about CleanVisit.
  2. Snow, haven't you just answered the question for yourself. Because of all of the things that the Bible can "Be," now, more than ever, we need a living Prophet who can interpret, explain, and predict what the Bible really teaches. I guess I lack all of the scholarly authority that some on this forum have, but to me, it is as simple as saying, a modern-day, living Prophet knows what we need to do to return and live with God again. For me, this is enough....for now :)
  3. The only thing I can't stand is "fake crying." Maybe it is really genuine, but it still irks me nonetheless. I just can't understand how some people can cry without ever really saying anything that seems especially pertinent to me (maybe it is just my own pride getting in the way) I don't know...
  4. Or, are we supposed to return to our days of innocence and become like little children again?
  5. Is it always spam, or sometimes is it just a system error?
  6. Has anyone here heard of Mindy Gledhill? I absolutely love her stuff. Search for my favorite Mindy Gledhill song, "A Little More Like Thee," at CleanVisit.com, a safe, family friendly search engine. Her music is really peaceful and her voice has both the subtleties and power to convey great passion. Actually, I really like all of her music.
  7. Speaking of sex, while you teach him, you could help him search safer online. Have you heard of CleanVisit. It is a new search engine that helps to filter pornography and other "bad stuff" that your children can run into while on the Internet. If you try it out, tell me what you thought. I would love any feedback. Thanks :)
  8. Watch her dance; compliment her smile; encourage her spiritual growth;
  9. I've got a question. Try to just give me a "non-politically biased response" if you can though. Here it is: Can someone please explain to me, very briefly but as detailed as he or she deems possible, the differing opinions, plans, actions, etc. to this "New, Proposed Healthcare" Bill/Reform/etc. or whatever else it is. This kind of talk gives me a headache! Please send me a response via private message or just post below on this thread. Thanks, and I am looking forward to your responses.
  10. No, I had the same problem. It is just that the messages have been deleted before you retrieved them, just like KeithLBrown was saying. Sometimes strange things like this can happen. It happens on one of my yahoo mail accounts (sporadically) as well. The wonders and confusions of the Internet, go figure !
  11. Wow, this has also been a pretty complex discussion. The answer to this question, once again, in my humble opinion, is very simple. Ask God. Pray to Him and ask Him. Come prepared with exactly what you want to know and then "work" out the answer for yourself. I have done this. I know it works. And when I see discussions of "faith vs. works" my immediate reaction is to jump in on the debate/discussion/sometimes an argument and "prove my point" by quoting scriptures, using analogies, etc. Now, however, I have a more tempered reaction. I realize that this question is more simply understood when it is asked to Heavenly Father. I know, my answers are sometimes too simple; however, I strongly believe that this is how God wants us to understand His doctrines and teachings. Try praying and asking God yourself. Expect an answer. Do not let personal predispositions or bias interfere and you will be surprised at the inspiration, insight, and spiritual clarity The Holy Ghost will provide.
  12. Personally, I'm a big fan of Netflix. You don't get all of the G-rated stuff you can get with LDSmovierentals but the quality and customer service is excellent. I have not had any problems since I made the switch.
  13. I think it is the literal interpretation here, they did not know "naked" and therefore they had no clothes.
  14. I've read that although nuclear power plants used to be highly volatile, nowadays they are extremely efficient and safe. It is always hard to know which information you can trust and which is biased though. In my opinion, I think that we definitely need to look for alternative sources of fuel, besides fossil fuels. Is nuclear power the way to go? That is a question I have still not come to ends with :)
  15. I believe that the church states that Heavenly Father has a wife but other than that, I don't think the church has explicitly stated anything else. But please, correct me if I'm wrong. I'm all about reading Gospel Doctrine!
  16. Well, I am not really a "political kind of person," but I think so long as President Obama is getting other things done (is he?) then having a little recreational activity shouldn't be too big a problem, right?
  17. When God, an omnipotent being (one who already knows ALL things) calls someone to perform a work, he already knows it will happen. Now, even though I believe this, it is still difficult at times to grasp. Anyway....the minuteness of a finite mind....argh!
  18. I just attended a Stake Conference in which President Eyring spoke. He talked about this exact same question. He said that while finishing up his Doctorate Degree, he was one of 8 professors working at a prestigious university. The news came that only one of the 8 would have a job in the coming months. President Eyring, a Bishop at the time, knew that he could not work on Sundays and figured that because of this, the other professors would get to keep the job over him. However, he said that the Lord made him do more than he physically thought possible in the time he had to work. Because of this great "intervention by God," as you might say, he was selected and the others lost their positions. So, it is not so much that God intervenes and "manipulates" the free agency of others so much as it is that God "qualifies those He calls." I can explain clearer if my words are a bit vague but I hope this helps further this conversation.
  19. Thanks for bringing this prophecy to my attention, I never knew how significant it was(at the time) but now it all makes sense. Go CHINA!
  20. I wonder if men will ever even go to this part of the forum...?
  21. Wow, I just read through most of this conversation and I must say, it is a bit complex. I know that God is the author of all things but I also know, as the Bible states, God is not the author of confusion. Christ was a master teacher because he taught simply. People understood. A lot of what I have been reading (and not to pick on Snow) has been highly abstract and convoluted. I see your point of view (Snow) however, even slight variations from the faith lead to apostasy in the long run. I know, it may seem harsh, but as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, we believe in modern, living Prophets. As such, we must believe what they say is true. We accept them as prophets, seers, and revelators. Although it may be simpler, less controversial, and more popular to believe the way you do (you have a convincing argument) your central point is inherently incorrect.
  22. Another step to overcoming pornography is to limit your exposure to it. This is especially true while surfing the Internet. I have noticed that by using CleanVisit, my search results are always much safer than using other search engines like: Google, MSN, Bing, etc. You know, the best step in dealing with pornography is actually just to never view it in the first place. This CleanVisit web browser/search engine is also a great tool to prevent the "temptation" to view pornographic images as well.
  23. Well, I am not too knowledgeable about this issue, but why can't both sides come together. That is what I despise about politics. It seems like no matter who says what the other side always says how completely wrong the other side is! This is ludicrous, really. This is not like "good vs. evil" I think both sides may have valid points. The key issue, especially with health care reform, is to meet the other side half way. Am I just crazy or does it seem this way to you guys too?
  24. I don't know if it is a hidden talent, but I can speak Mandarin (Chinese)
