  1. It is a beautiful Cathedral. I have been inside. Have you been to the Schatzkammer in the basement with all the gold? It's super cool too.
  2. I'm leaving for Germany the 21st. Heading to Berlin before going to the Toy Fair. Will only be passing thru Cologne for a train change so I shouldn't have any problems. I'm a guy anyway.:-) Hopefully the Munich train station will be open when I get there on the 25th!
  3. In General, this. If one cannot support a wife, one has no business marrying.
  4. Go to Costco and buy restaurant quality kitchenware. You'll have it for the rest of your life. Not cheap.
  5. We can't judge others. Everyone lives in a different situation economically as well as socially and location. All these factors (and more) enter into the when and how many children a couple may have.
  6. Not really enough info to give you any kind of decent advice. We're only seeing your side, and you have omitted mention of any children except very obliquely. Have tried marital counseling? I'd check it out.
  7. I've been on various internet fora for over 20 years. Thank heaven.
  8. I have several very close male friends that are not family members. Most of these I've met through hobby interests. We have traveled together many times and have also had "meaningful" conversations about our personal situations.
  9. Having seen the movie myself now, I would advise you strongly to NOT se episodes 4-6.
  10. Suit? What's that? Here, near Silicon Valley, I wore my last tie to work in 1999. Stopped wearing them to church soon after. I now use a Guayabera shirt. Tropical formal wear. Mine are all linen of this highest quality. Each shirt cost well over $100.
  11. Thanks for the report! I decided to go to Nuremberg on the spur of the moment! I'm invited to the annual Toyfair exhibition held at the end of January each year. My hobby is model trains, so it's a fairly big deal since the fair is normally only open to trades. I'm getting a special pass. Sorry you didn't care for the Christmas market there. Of course they're always crowded. Even though Germans seem very secular, they do get into their religious holidays! I'll be staying mostly in Munich (impossible to get a room in Nuremberg during the fair), but may get as far north as Hamburg. The biggest model train layout in the world is there.;-)
  12. In my experience and I've seen a lot as a financial professional, avoiding alimony is a very big deal. While each state is different, here in PRK, the recipient spouse can keep going back to court to change alimony amounts if the payor spouse becomes more affluent. Here in PRK, if one has been married 10 years of longer, the payor becomes a "lifer" with respect to payments.
  13. The prophecy in Daniel seems fairly specific to me, and is clearly being fulfilled before our eyes in recent and even current history. But the stone made with no hands that will break up all the kingdoms of the world is a long way from fulfilling the prophecy. A presence of 25,000 people in China among 1.5 Bilillion just doesn't cut it for me in breaking up that kingdom. This goes for all the Muslim countries as well. No this does not "count" as much of anything toward fulfilling that prophecy IMHO.
  14. You're forgetting the prophecy in Daniel that states that before the day the gospel will fill the whole world. We're a long way from that IMNSHO.
  15. Not in my lifetime nor my children's. A lot of things must happen according to the prophecies.
  16. There is no such thing as a friendly divorce. Don't even think about giving her one more nickel that she is entitled to. No alimony unless mandated. Here in PRK, all this is done using charts for what is "fair". You were right in seeking mediation. Of course, you have an attorney, correct?
  17. You do realize don't you that Zurich is the most expensive city in the most expensive country on the Continent? A few years ago my wife ordered the most expensive hotdog (Würst) with rösti in a restaurant there. USD36! Be careful!
  18. Nuremberg is certainly not ghastly. It's a beautiful Bavarian city. I know you like to speak (write?) with out thinking through your ideas, but this is one of the worst. I think I've mentioned this before: Some of you need to get out more.
  19. I go to Germany every year. IMHO it is the safest country in Europe. In Nuremberg, see the Christmas markets and the National transportation museum near the train station. Try the Nuernberg sausages with sauerkraut at the HeiligerGeist (Holy Ghost) restaurant in town. Go to Lebkuchen Schmidt in the Pedestrian zone for the best in the world cookies and pastry. Very German. All this is walking distance. Yeah, I'm a fan. :)
  20. Without reading all the posts, I believe teachers, at least here in California are more than fairly compensated. 1. It's essentially a part time job what with 10 weeks in summer, Xmas break, Spring break etc etc 2. Can't be fired unless one is a criminal and even then.......... 3. Pension after 30 years 90% of pay. This is almost non existant in the private sector. 4. Health Care paid for life. This is almost non-existant in the private sector. 5. Fairly decent salary when one considers all the perks. I've heard of teachers putting extraordinary hours , I've just never seen it in real life. I used to audit a school district.
  21. Some of you don't get out much. I've travelled extensively in the US and Central Europe. By and large, the people I've met are good, kind and helpful. Go almost anywhere in the US, even New York and people are trying to be friendly and nice. Is there crime? Of course, but it's still a very small minority. Nothing like one sees on the daily news shows.
  22. Nine months pregnant! I'm a guy, but I still feel her pain...............
  23. When I was in a bishopric many years ago and the meetings seemed to last forever, I would pre arrange to have someone call me on my cellphone at a pre determined time. Then, I could gracefully leave to handle the "problem or emergency". Sounds crass, but after my time in another church organization whose leader would not control the time element, I made a decision to never accept a church calling where I couldn't control the meetings. This stuff can really get out of hand. So I sympathize with Lilly in the meeting element. The above is a suggestion on how to control it.
  24. Not a fan of the hobby, personally. I had an uncle who travelled the U.S. and Europe gathering all info on my paternal line. He went back around 1,200 years before hitting dead end. That sides all been done. I have a cousin who speaks Norwegian who has done the maternal line. There's really nothing for me to do.
