    This is a true Story.

I was in Switzerland last September 2019 eating in a nice restaurant in Lucerne with several friends.  The conversation varied, but at one point I held out against Socialism and railed against the evilness of it.  Topics were changed and we went on to other subjects.
As we were eating dessert, a couple came to the table and stated that they had overheard the conversation about the evils of Socialism.  They were from Russia, and had lived there during the Soviet period.  Now living in Chicago, they stated that anyone who has lived in a socialist society hates socialism.  They hated it, that's why they emigrated from Russia as soon as they could.  They came to hate their local politicians in Chicago, and were looking to leave there as well.
No one who has lived through what happened behind the Iron Curtain likes socialism except the ones who had privileged positions in those societies.
As far as the NHS goes, I have been in the UK many, many, times and have some good friends there.  My friends wife made a very good living selling...………….wait for it...…………...Health Insurance!  The NHS is not for everyone for sure.
Also it is a big political football.  Almost daily in the press the NHS has front page headlines.  Good or bad depending on the POV of the newspaper.  So why any  normal government would want to take on the responsibility for the general health of their population is beyond me.  A way to buy votes, I assume.

Queolby does not engage in conversation, ever. Go back and check his posting history. He raises what he apparently sees as "controversial" topics, often disguised as "investigator questions" or "someone asked me this online," then sits back to enjoy the show. This thread continues that pattern. In my opinion, the mods should resolve this problem once and for all.

Hello Lady. First, it would do you well to know that attraction is nothing more than a chemical reaction to make animals reproduce. It may it you hard now, but it will slowly fade away until you won't feel not even the slightly sign of attraction to your husband. So becareful, Choose well, focus on things that matter such as inteligence, this one won't fade.
And you can feel love for almost everyone, this quality is developed over a certain period of time living with the chosen one. But if you choose someone merely because he or she is "good looking", chances are your marriage is going to be pretty sad.
Btw, i just want to say that you re not an animal, you are rational, so don't let attraction ( aka chemical reaction ) decide for you.
If you choose someone based on good qualities ( the quality i most value in a girl is inteligence for example haha)you 'll probably be fine.

Flynn's case was never tried AFAIK.  He entered a plea bargain under financial duress as well as a threat by the DOJ that his son would be dragged into the mire with him.
I'm sure competent attorneys could have gotten him off, knowing what we know now, but the cost was simply too great in many ways compared to the light sentence bargained for.  And at the time there seemed no light at the end of the tunnel for him to get his life back.
Serious DOJ misuse of power, but the government has almost unlimited resources, and most of the rest of us do not.

Since lying to the FBI, or for that matter, most government officials is a felony, best advice is don't even be a witness.  That's why people who are seemingly on the periphery of these cases tend to lawyer up immediately.
Flynn had no reason to believe that he was the target of anything.  He was the National Security Advisor, after all.

mrmarklin reacted to prisonchaplain in Fact Checkers Too Dangerous to Trust
We discussed the reliability of fact checkers in a different string. Consensus seems to be that they are quite good...even mostly accurate. However, in mulling this over, that's not good enough. Why? Fact-checkers allow powerful media platforms to slant what they provide and then outsource blame when bias is exposed. See: https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2020/05/12/facebooks_evidence-free_false_rating_143182.html
    The problems are:
    1. Fact checkers simply make judgments and report their findings.
    2. Sometimes they are biased, and those who use them seldom allow any recourse.
    3. Entities like Facebook and Google are so prolific that even if their fact-checkers are 95% accurate, rogue evaluators can shut down voices without cause.
The solution is to return to the free marketplace of ideas. Fire the fact checkers and let users decide for themselves what they will and will not believe. That might sound dangerous, but hey, I'm not 6. I don't need big corporate brother telling me what's true and false anymore than I need government doing so.

What do you mean "at that"?  Here's what I'm hearing:
    Is that it?
    Here's a suggestion:
    Better?
I need to explain something.  When I said "sometimes it's not her, it's you" I was not putting you down.  I was somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but somewhat serious as well.  But I was not being malicious.
When I was younger, I was COMPLETELY bad with women.  I absolutely did not know how to talk with them.  Mind you, I was a pretty good catch.
I was from a good family.  I was pretty smart.  I had tremendous earning potential.  I was a returned missionary.  I was active and fulfilled my calling.  I was raised to be a gentleman and treated women with respect. So, it was not just the stuff on my resume.  It was the way I WAS.  Women just didn't really want to be around me.  At some point, ONE girl flat out told me it was because I was Korean.  I did not see her again.  But I didn't use that as an excuse to say that ALL girls rejected me for that.
I just had to learn how to "sell myself."  The difference between those two conversations I just put in the quote boxes above shows a MOUNTAIN of difference in how you answer a simple question.  Do you kind of see that even if you have a wonderful "husband resume" that no one cares until you're able to sell it?
In a real resume, you can have all the requirements for a position and then some.  But if you don't' format it the right way, it will never get past the screener in the HR department.  I applied to the same job three times over the course of several years.  It was one of those companies that everyone wanted to work for.
The first time, I was outright rejected.  Good qualifications.  Bad resume. The second time, I was called in for an interview.  Good qualifications.  Decent resume.  Bad interview. The third time, I was hired.  Godd quals. Good resume.  Good interview. If you keep blaming others for what you're not doing on your end, you'll never find success.  Do everything on your end.  And pray for a wife who you can take to the temple.  I assure you that the Lord will answer your prayers.

I grew up on a farm. We had to work on Sunday. Animals need fed and water, crops need taken care of. Calving season didn't stop for Sunday.  Dad had to get up extra early on Sundays to make it to church on time. It was never a day of rest.

This photo became a meme because at the time this was aired, there was no panic buying in San Francisco (or anywhere in the US for that matter).  There was in Australia and parts of Europe.  The press, at the  time was trying to show Trump as "downplaying the seriousness of the disease"..  This was one of the earliest covid-19 news stories that TRIGGERED the panic.
There's another one, although I can't remember if it was CNN showing footage of people digging a mass grave in New York.  They used the footage in a story about New York covid deaths.  The mass grave is a normal activity for that specific cemetery even before covid.
In any case, using random unrelated photos/videos as well as manufacturing staged photos/videos to support a specific news story is Journalistic malpractice.
